Natalie and Stephanie surprised everyone by winning the leg through the Czech Republic in Episode 3 of The Amazing Race Season 38. Meanwhile, after getting lost on their way to the Pit Stop, Megan and Matt were eliminated. Their demise demonstrated how a single navigational error can frequently be the difference between moving forward and returning home.

Teams traveled from Prague to the ancient village of Kutná Hora for this leg, which was called "Cry & Rally." After driving themselves to a municipal brewery, the racers encountered a detour and a roadblock that tested their physical and mental equilibrium. Unusually for the series, one Roadblock required a team member to put on full ice hockey gear and score a goal through target holes.

Teams hurried to the Kostel sv. Any church for the Pit Stop as the leg came to an end. All other teams had already checked in; thus, Megan and Matt arrived too late due to a routing issue. To verify that they were eliminated, host Phil Keoghan met them at the church.

Key moves, detours & route drama in this leg of The Amazing Race

The structure of the leg immediately knocked racers off balance. Teams had to perform difficult tasks like the hockey-theater assignment and drive themselves through uncharted territory, which put pressure on them both at stops and behind the wheel. While several partners trailed behind in confusion due to maps and clue paths, many of the better pairings gained an early advantage.

Brewery, ice hockey roadblocks, & detour surprises

Teams had to drive themselves from Prague to Kutná Hora, navigating Czech roads and signage along the way. They came to a detour option and the unusual roadblock after reaching the town's brewery. The Amazing Race Detour probably required either manual labor or memory/observation exercises.

In the most memorable Roadblock, competitors wore ice hockey gear and had to fire pucks through five cutouts. This was difficult if done incorrectly; endurance, balance, and aim were all important. Here, some teams wasted time. Natalie and Stephanie, meanwhile, handled the task with ease and maintained their momentum. Their victory was made possible by the way they handled the Roadblock and brewery obstacles.

Victory claimed, elimination sealed

Natalie and Stephanie kept up their lead as they raced into the Pit Stop, making quick turns and swerving over obstacles. They had the advantage they needed to cross first because of their ability to complete tasks quickly and cleanly. This victory was especially significant because it came during a leg that was full of possible errors.

On the other hand, a navigational error caused Megan and Matt's race to fall apart. Megan and Matt were still on their way when the other teams checked in at Kostel sv. Anny. Phil Keoghan met them and verified their withdrawal from the race, realizing that it would be too late for them. Their elimination highlighted The Amazing Race's harsh rules, which state that finishing first is the most important goal, even when you complete challenges.
