The American Revolution: Voice cast and other details

The docuseries has been directed by Ken Burns, who is also the creator, and is accompanied by two more directors, David Schmidt and Sarah Botstein, in directing the episodes of the upcoming docuseries.

As per IMDb, the synopsis of The American Revolution reads as:

"Chronicles how 13 British colonies fought for independence and formed a new nation, through the experiences of soldiers, leaders, Loyalists, Native Americans, and African Americans."

In a recent Variety interview, Ken Burns revealed that he had been working on the documentary for the last 10 years while also working on numerous other projects. However, this one was different from the other documentaries, as the American Revolution is not as well-documented as the other historical stories. Therefore, Burns had only paintings and maps accounting for the revolution. When asked about the same, The Civil War creator shared:

"It was a wonderful challenge to have. It’s just a recalibration. Sometimes, you’ve got no first-person voices, because you’re dealing with lots of living witnesses. Here, you’ve got hundreds of first-person voices, no living witnesses and many scholars."

He further added:

"We filmed reenactors for years and years and collected a critical mass of dozens of hours of impressionistic footage. We have lots of maps; some of them we extrude and make dimensional. All of that is a way of making what I hope is beautiful in lots of senses of the word. It’s also ghastly, horribly terrifying."

To bring a crucial time of American history to the screens, the show includes numerous acclaimed actors and personalities of the Hollywood industry who either appear in the series or are included as voice actors.
