The show, starring Keeley Hawes in the lead, tells the story of a retired assassin, Julie, who reunites with her estranged son, Edward.

The Swiss-British composer has been a part of the industry for more than two decades and has previously collaborated with Harry and Jack Williams, the creators of The Assassin, on their shows like The Missing, The Tourist, and Baptiste.
Scherrer’s other music credits include shows and films like The Serpent, Elizabeth Is Missing, The City and the City, The Widow, An Inspector Calls, Ripper Street, Inspector George Gently, Agatha Christie's Marple, and The Nine Lives of Tomas Katz.
The composer talked about the experience of working on the Prime Video show’s score in an interview with NME and revealed how he infused elements from different cultures in his music as the show’s narrative takes place across various countries:
“The series is set in many different countries, and I wanted to exaggerate the exoticism. I spent a few days in a studio in Athens, recording dulcimers, and plucked and bowed Middle Eastern and Mediterranean instruments, which appear in a few moments in the final score.”
He added:
“Some of the fun and excitement in the script is in the extreme contrasts. A dark, thriller-ish scene with a lot of peril will be followed abruptly by hilarious conversations on a Mediterranean beach, for example. Rather than smoothing this over, I wanted the score to accentuate this, as it brings energy to those moments.”
