The Bondsman on Prime Video sees the red light post Season 1 and here's all about the latest updates

Horror action series, The Bondsman, premiered on April 3, 2025, and was an enjoyable binge-watch with eight episodes. The Kevin Bacon-starrer series became one of the most viewed shows upon its release and was one of the top 10 series on Prime Video.

However, this did not favour the show as Amazon recently pulled the plug on the show, meaning it won’t be returning for a second season. The news came as a shock to everyone as the audience loved Bacon’s performance and the unique narrative of the show.

The Bondsman revolves around Bacon’s Hub Halloran, a bounty hunter and a former musician, who comes back to life as a demon-hunter.

Amazon cancels The Bondsman after one season

Created by Grainger David, who was also the executive producer along with Erik Oleson, Jason Blum, and Kevin Bacon, The Bondsman was a strange and supernatural tale about a bounty hunter turned demon hunter, with a humorous tone. After starring in horror films such as Hollow Man, Friday the 13th, and MaXXXine, the Prime Video show was a return for Bacon in the horror genre. Bacon's performance and the dramatic and comic narrative were the highlight of the show.

However, it might not have been enough to keep the show afloat as Deadline reported that Amazon has cancelled the show just after season 1, and it won’t be back for the next chapter. It was a shock due to the cliffhanger ending of the show, as the viewers were expecting a second season.

EP Erik Oleson talked about this in a Collider interview last month. He said:

"I wanted to make it impossibly difficult on Amazon to not give us a Season 2. That was my evil, devious plan to get us picked up. Yes, there is future story that I want to tell if we’re lucky enough to get another season. I will answer all of your questions and ask new, even more compelling questions if we get a Season 2."

Hence, the cancellation of the show after just one season was both a surprise and a shock for the viewers, as the show was one of the top 10 shows on Amazon Prime Video.

As per Deadline, Bacon’s horror series was among the Nielsen top 10 streaming shows in its first week, but was not part of the list in the following weeks. The Bondsman was a show with a different take on the horror genre, where the makers tried to incorporate goofy plotlines and make it an enjoyable watch with less gore and a little bit of fun.

Other than Kevin Bacon, the horror show also stars Jennifer Nettles, Damon Herriman, Jolene Purdy, Beth Grant, Maxwell Jenkins, and Kathrine Barnes, among others.
