3) Six Flying Dragons

Released in 2015, this historical drama focuses on the foundation of the Joseon dynasty in Korea. It recounts the conflicts, challenges, and struggles faced by several characters in a time just before the revolution that changed Korea. Shin Se-kyung played Boon-yi, one of the six dragons, also referred to as the people’s dragon. She was headstrong and was inspired by Jeong Do-jeon’s philosophy of the new world. Boon-yi had faced a number of challenges in her childhood, and later used her experience to help and become a voice for the poor people. Se-kyung was praised for her role in the series and also acquired several nominations and awards for the role.
2) Arthdal Chronicles

The Song Jong-ki starrer show is a story of rebellion. In the first season, Joong-ki’s Eun-seom tries to rally around numerous tribes to join in the fight against the ruthless Ta-gon (Jang Dong-gun) for their freedom.
In the second season, set eight years after the first season, the clans are ready for a full-blown war against Ta-gon and his brutal rule. Se-kyung plays Tan-ya, a spiritual leader, from the Wahan tribe. She is a beloved figure among the people for her compassion. However, she doesn’t agree with Ta-gon and Tae Al-ha’s ruthless and dangerous rule, and is against them attacking the enslaved other tribes, including her own. The intense narrative and characterisation make the show a must-watch.
1) Rookie Historian Goo Hae-ryung

Rookie Historian Goo Hae-ryung stars two popular actors, Shin Se-kyung and Cha Eun-woo, together. Set in the early 19th century, the show focuses on a young and bold historian, named Goo Hae-ryung, played by Se-kyung, and her fight against the right to freedom for women, in a world where they are mostly overlooked.
While the theme of the show appears solemn, the characters, such as Ch Eun-woo’s Prince Dowon, who is secretly a romance novel author, and Se-kyung’s Hae-ryung, make it an interesting and engaging watch as we see their enthusiastic characters giving their all to achieve their goals.
