Netflix's Resident Playbook premiered in April 2025 and has quickly become a fan-favorite series. With cameos from all the main characters of Hospital Playlist and recently K-Pop Idols: TXT’s Yeonjun and Soobin, the show is getting so much recognition.

Beyond that, the series focuses on the hectic lives of first-year OB-GYN residents as they navigate personal and professional challenges. While facing situations that range from grim to hopeful at Yulje Medical Centre, the residents have formed genuine connections like friendships, and in Oh Yi-young’s (Go Youn-jung) case, even love. However, Yi-young might not be the only one among her friends, as Kim Sa-bi and Um Jae-il’s feelings about each other also appear to change.

Last week’s episode finally revealed that Kim Sa-bi (Han Ye-ji) was a Hello Girl, meaning a fan of HI-BOYZ, Um Jae-il’s (Kang You-seok) former K-Pop band, after she joined in the performance of When The Day Comes with Jae-il, shocking the former K-Pop idol and her other friends. However, Resident Playbook has been hinting at Kim Sa-bi being a Hello Girl since the premiere episode.

More on this in our story.

Resident Playbook: Kim Sa-bi was a Hello Girl all along

While Yi-young and Do-won are trying to hide their new and blossoming relationship, another couple might soon join them after last week’s episode. In episode 9, Sa-bi couldn’t hide it anymore that she is a HI-BOYZ fan after she joined Jae-il for a performance of their hit song, When The Day Comes, which surprised her friends and the viewers as well.

However, this is not the first time that Sa-bi was caught knowing about Jae-il and his K-pop. In the premiere episode, while Jae-il was introducing himself and doing the signature step of their hit song, Sa-bi could be seen smiling and joining in, but reluctantly. This is not the only instance, as in another episode, she nonchalantly reveals that Jae-il’s parents own a business overseas, which even surprises Jae-il, but she plays it cool.

And who would forget about Jae-il describing his first love, whose description is similar to Kim Sa-bi but happened to be Hospital Playlist’s Jang Gyeo-wool, another cameo from the beloved series, which shocked Sa-bi, as she didn’t know about it. As her performance with him on their hit song got Jae-il to look at her in a different light, Sa-bi did tell him that he was not her bias, but Top Key. However, the smile and the blush on Sa-bi’s face might mean something more.

As Sa-bi has now gotten all of Jae-il’s attention, it would be exciting to see how the former idol and his fangirl’s story will end as the end of the limited series is near.
