The Challenge Season 40: Who is still in the race after the final elimination

Season 40 of The Challenge: Battle of the Eras kicked off on August 14, 2024, and the past four months has seen 20 contenders fighting it out through several challenges. Their aim is to win the $1 million cash prize and the title of The Challenge Champion.

The Challenge is a reality TV show where contestants compete in physically demanding and mentally challenging tasks to win the show. The show requires the participants to demonstrate teamwork, collaboration, and strategizing.

Over the past four months, 20 contestants battled to make it to the finish line, However, after the final elimination aired on MTV last week, only eight remain to compete for the trophy.

What happened in final elimination of The Challenge Season 40

In episode 17 of The Challenge, things took a shocking turn when Cara Maria Sorbello faced an unexpected swimming challenge and ended up getting eliminated.

The day began with host T.J announcing a change in location to the Philippines, indicating the arrival of the grand finale. Bananas, Jordan, Kyland, and Derek had already blocked their spots in the final, and the battle was now among the five women for their place.

The daily challenge, Fortress Bricks, was a test of physical and mental strength. Each contender had to carry 40 heavy blocks down from the Spanish fortress and then carry 10 planks to complete the puzzle printed on them. Tori couldn't beat the others and had to face a final elimination.

When Jordan was given the opportunity to pick one out of Cara and Rachel for the elimination round, he picked Cara to go against Tori in 'The Final Elimination' round. The two had to tread water and the last one floating would move to the final. After two and a half hours and with TJ increasing the level of difficulty a couple of times, Cara Maria finally decided to accept defeat.
