As the crew gathers for a joint baby shower cum gender reveal for Tiff and Keisha, a bombshell is waiting for them to hit. Reg, Jake's older brother, who was considered dead in season 2, is alive. Reg was believed to have been killed after getting on Douda’s bad side. His sudden return marks a huge twist, especially for Jake, who grieved for him for years. Reg's reappearance is likely to shape the street dynamics along with families, especially after Dauda's death.

Nuck, once a secondary figure, has stepped up and is now running Douda’s mob. He allies with Alicia, who is now growing close to Tiff, creating a complex and fragile triangle of relationships. However, Nuck was involved in Rob's death, which is also the reason behind his soft corner for Alicia and Tiff. The guilt is eating him and will be out anytime soon in the coming episodes.

Pastor Zeke divorces his wife Tatiana after her romance with Jake came to light and reclaims his control over the congregation. Publicly, Zeke presents himself as a reformed, morally righteous leader — his sermons condemn "sins of the flesh," especially premarital s*x. This portrays the irony and hypocrisy that runs deep as he is secretly involved with a white woman. Charles' aide learns about his affair and warns him that his act can hamper the church's reputation.

Episode 3 also showcases a young couple, Jamal and Dom, trying to uphold celibacy despite their romantic involvement. Zeke's sermon on committed partnership pushes Jamal to consider marriage, not for love but to calm his guilt after getting intimate. Their decision to get engaged may seem romantic on the surface, but it is heavily influenced by spiritual guilt and social pressure.

Maisha, an emerging photographer, is ready to leave Chicago for Los Angeles, motivated by her relationship with Kevin, which she believes will have a real shot away from their hometown. While Jemma and Britney maintain their connection with music. Their talent draws the attention of Ali, a seasoned New York producer, who sees potential but challenges them to level up. He gives them an offer to move to NYC and sign with a label. The duo, ambitiously, takes up the opportunity even if it means some personal sacrifices.

Jemma parts with Jake, respectfully honouring what they once had in The Chi. Jemma’s decision prompts her father, Marcus, to reflect on his next steps. Fresh from a breakup and worried about his daughter’s future, Marcus quietly considers moving to New York — not to interfere, but to remain nearby in support.
