The Defects Episode 5 opens with Ah-Hyun recalling the abuse she suffered as a child under Se-Hee’s control. While the president pushes for the unsettling "children shopping law," Ah-Hyun is unwillingly caught in plans to carry the president’s wife’s child.

The other kids try to win her trust but end up trading her back to Se-Hee, while her double is saved and treated by friends. Se-Hee’s cruelty is laid bare when she kills unborn children she labels "defective," shocking even those forced to witness it.

Joo-An’s painful past with Eun-Gyeol is revealed, showing how prejudice and rejection led to tragedy. In the present, Joo-An confronts his abusive father, ending with Jung-Hyeon killing the man and blocking his schemes.

Episode 6 shifts to Seok-Su’s life under an abusive father who treats him like an animal. The detective starts connecting the kids to recent events, while Ah-Hyun’s group shares proof of the assemblyman’s crimes. Se-Hee meets wealthy parents, offering payouts for any "defective" children who reappear.

Trouble strikes when Ah-Hyun leaves to rescue her younger self. Assemblyman Kwan attacks the hideout, but Seok-Su stands up to him, risking his life for his friends. Jung-Hyeon arrives and unexpectedly kills both Seok-Su and Kwan, sparing the others without explanation.

The episode closes with Ah-Hyun returning to find Seok-Su dying. Instead of taking the young Ah-Hyun back, Jung-Hyeon burns the hideout with everyone still inside. His true motives remain a mystery, leaving the fate of the survivors uncertain.

What to expect from The Defects Episode 7-8?

The final two episodes will likely bring the long-awaited clash between Ah-Hyun’s group and Se-Hee. After the hideout fire, the big question is who survived and how this will shape the fight against the adoption network.

Jung-Hyeon’s next move is also uncertain, as his actions hint at both danger and a strange sense of protection toward Ah-Hyun. Viewers can expect the finale of The Defects to push emotions and stakes to the limit.

With Se-Hee’s influence growing, adding powerful allies to her side, stopping her won’t be easy. These last moments could decide whether the "children shopping" system is destroyed or if Se-Hee’s twisted vision becomes unstoppable.
