The wait is finally over as The Diplomat Season 3 is now all decked up for a 2025 release on Netflix. The political thriller series has already been renewed for a fourth chapter, and the latest season 3 teaser is causing a lot of buzz on social media.

Expectation is also quite high owing to the fact that the first two seasons were received quite well by the audience and bagged commendable RT scores. The Diplomat Season 3 will feature Bradley Whitford in a pivotal role alongside returning stars Keri Russell and Rufus Sewell. So, it's time to gear up as The Diplomat eyes an exclusive Netflix premiere this fall.

Is there a release window for The Diplomat Season 3?

Netflix has not yet announced any release date for The Diplomat Season 3, but we do have a release window - the fall of this year. London is one of the key filming locations of the third chapter, alongside parts of New York, and production has officially concluded, according to Tudum. Showrunner Debora Cahn has worked in association with executive producer Janice Williams for the much-awaited Season 3.

What do we know about the plot of The Diplomat Season 3?

The story ended on an open note in The Diplomat Season 2 finale. President Rayburn is dead (after hearing about an unimaginable incident), and Kat (Keri Russell) has found out about VP Grace Penn's association in the fatal terrorist move (with the latter now in line to become the next leader/President).

Penn has also been successful in retaining Creegan, a Scottish nuclear-submarine base, and it also became clear that the ambush on the UK's naval fleet originated from a mole inside the British diplomats (Grace was also in it). So now the plot totally centers on diplomat Kate, who gets charged up to step into bigger shoes with more freedom - yes, she is going to fight for the position of the Vice President and bring justice on account of the recent developments.

A nation is at stake, and security seems to have been breached from the inside. This appears to be the perfect moment for our protagonist to step up and take matters into her own hands. Amidst all the conundrums, another important figure emerges - Todd Penn (Bradley Whitford, who has recently joined the cast, will play this role).

Todd is the husband of Grace, and fans are eagerly awaiting to witness The Handmaid's Tale star's on-screen aura as First Gentleman in The Diplomat Season 3. The introduction of this new character appears to be a major layer added to an already multi-faceted plot. Moreover, Kat's complications with Austin Dennison, the Foreign Secretary, are also increasing, and The Diplomat Season 3 will be the perfect foreground to portray the duo's dynamic relationship arc.

Who is in the cast of The Diplomat Season 3?

Keri Russell reprises her role as Katherine "Kate" Wyler, a key diplomat in the United Kingdom on behalf of the United States. She will be, as expected, joined by co-star Rufus Sewell, her better half as well as co-diplomat.

Bradley Whitford is the new name in the cast of The Diplomat Season 3 and will play the role of Grace Penn's husband. Among others in the cast, we have:

  • David Gyasi as Austin Dennison, Foreign Secretary in the UK
  • Ato Essandoh as Stuart Heyford, Deputy Chief of Mission of the US Embassy in the UK
  • Rory Kinnear as Nicol Trowbridge, Prime Minister of the UK
  • Allison Janney as Grace Penn, ex-Vice President and current President
  • Ali Ahn as Eidra Park, the CIA Station Chief
