Alexa Davalos steps into the role of Rebekah in The Faithful
Every generation of biblical storytelling has had its moment, and The Faithful brings that moment back. Alexa Davalos, known for FBI: Most Wanted is now taking on the role of Rebekah, a woman whose decisions resonate across the centuries.
Fox has described Rebekah as "bold, compassionate, and courageous." She is a matriarch and a woman of faith who always listens when God speaks to her and dares to walk into the unknown for her God.
In this show, Rebekah's journey begins with an invitation, one that remoulds her entire destiny and the future of her family. Along with her is Isaac, played by Tom Mison, burdened with the weight of an inheritance tied to Abraham's covenant.

Their sons Jacob and Esau, played by Tom Payne and Ben Robson, represent rivalry, survival, and the long understanding struggle between faith and doubt. Jacob is painted as a planner who thrives by wit, while Esau is the warrior son fighting his way with expectation and identity.
Michael Thorn, Fox Entertainment's president, explained the creative vision in a statement to Deadline:
"The Faithful follows the Old Testament's heroic, biblical matriarchs and opens a new lane of storytelling at Fox. This show is the definition of strong, female character-driven storytelling, exploring timeless themes that originated thousands of years ago, yet remain startlingly modern and relatable."
With Davalos leading, that promise feels more than secure and safe.
A new way to see biblical women on screen
What makes The Faithful so striking is its focus on the women of Genesis. Rather than standing in the background and hiding in the shadows of the men like Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, this Fox series shifts the narrative altogether towards the women i.e., Sarah, Hagar, Rebekah, Leah, and Rachel.

Each episode offers a different look into the lives of these women, placing together their sacrifice, struggle, and strength that shaped the roots of three major Abrahamic faiths.
Through Rebekah's story, the audience will see how a single decision could tilt the balance between nations, brothers, and blessings. Isaac's memory of nearly being sacrificed, Jacob's search of favor, and Esau's fight for recognition all fall into the hands of the choices that Rebekah makes.
The series will be produced by Carol Mendelsohn, Rene Echevarria, and Julie Weitz. With six episodes releasing across three weeks and finishing up on Easter Sunday in 2026, Fox has timed The Faithful to line up with the season of Lent - a season of reflection and renewal.
By pulling stories from the scripture yet also dealing with emotional storytelling, the show aims to connect ancient history with modern people in a way that feels both respectful and relatable.
The Faithful is more than just another retelling about biblical events and stories. It is a chance to see the lives of women like Rebekah whose stories have never been told before.
With Alexa Davalos leading the story, and a cast ready to bring Genesis to life, Fox is inviting the audiences at home to rediscover stories they thought they already knew.
