The Faithful is executive produced by Carol Mendelsohn, Julie Weitz, and Rene Echevarria. Echevarria will also take on the role of writer and showrunner. Fox Entertainment Studios will produce the show. The series is scheduled to premiere on March 22, 2026, on Fox. The three-part series will air in two-hour installments with the finale set to air on April 5, 2026.

As per The Hollywood Reporter, Fox Television Network president Michael Thorn said about the show,

The Faithful follows the Old Testament’s heroic, biblical matriarchs and opens a new lane of storytelling at Fox. This show is the definition of strong, female character-driven storytelling, exploring timeless themes that originated thousands of years ago, yet remain startlingly modern and relatable. Carol, Julie and Rene bring unbelievable depth, dimension, intimacy and surprise to stories so many think they know but will completely rediscover through this powerful new lens.”

What is The Faithful about?

Fox’s The Faithful will bring forth the complex stories of five well-known women from the Bible. The women in the center of the story are Sarah, her maid Hagar, great-niece Rebekah, and Rebekah’s nieces Leah and Rachel.

The six episodes will explore themes of love, marriage, loss, and faith.

As per Variety, the official synopsis of The Faithful states,

“The Faithful’ unfolds through the interwoven stories of five legendary women of the Bible’s Old Testament whose lives were marked by quests for independence, deep-seeded desires and the desperate need for something far greater than they have ever known. Sarah, desperate for a child, takes an impassioned and complicated step through Hagar that forever alters her family’s path before experiencing an unexpected miracle late in life. Rebekah, intent on securing her favored child’s destiny, intervenes in her sons’ lives, setting into motion a legacy of sibling rivalry and division. And once inseparable sisters, Leah and Rachel become rivals in love and motherhood, building a fractured but foundational family whose descendants will carry the weight of history. Through longing, sacrifice, and perseverance, these women leave an enduring imprint on a story much bigger than their own.”

While Driver is known for her roles in Speechless, Good Will Hunting, and will be seen in the upcoming season of Netflix’s Emily in Paris, Karam is known for Fox’s 9-1-1: Lone Star and NBC’s The Brave. Donovan is known for Burn Notice, Fargo, and Law & Order.

The production for The Faithful will begin in the summer in Italy. The series will premiere on Sunday, March 22, 2026, with the finale airing on Easter Sunday.
