The first teaser for Gen V Season 2 was released on June 1, 2025, and it offers a glimpse at what the upcoming season will be about. One of the most intriguing plot lines of the new season promises to concern the character of Andre Anderson, played by Chance Perdomo in Season 1, given that the actor tragically passed away in March 2024.
In the closing minutes of the Season 1 finale, Andre, Marie Moreau, Emma Meyer/Little Cricket, and Jordan Li were seen together. The four were imprisoned in a mysterious location by Vought, as they were framed for the massacre caused by Sam Riordan (Patrick Schwarzenegger's Luke Riordan/Golden Boy's brother) and Cate Dunlap.
The Gen V Season 2 teaser highlights Andre's absence as his father, Polarity, played by actor Sean Patrick Thomas, repeatedly inquires about his son's whereabouts.
This storyline appears to be influenced by real-life events, as the world lost Chance Perdomo on March 29, 2024, due to a motorcycle accident that occurred just a week before filming for Gen V Season 2 began. Several people involved in the show behind the scenes, including showrunner Eric Kripke, confirmed that Perdomo's character won't be recast.
Looks like the Gen V Season 2 teaser is hinting that Andre Anderson passed away in captivity:
Andre Anderson could have been recast , but the people working on the show confirmed that the role will remain uncast to honor Chance Perdomo. Eric Kripke addressed this in a May 2024 Entertainment Weekly interview.
Kripke said, about the prospect of rewriting Andre's role for Gen V Season 2:
"It's been challenging, to say the least. We were a week away from shooting when Chance passed away tragically. So we had to almost rethink everything, and in just a matter of weeks. But what I tell people when they say 'wow, that's really crazy or difficult' [is] that pales in comparison to what his friends and loved ones are going through. It's the least we could do."
Given that they decided to stick with not recasting Chance Perdomo, it seems that somewhere before the first episode of Gen V Season 2, Andre might have passed away when he was captive in the mysterious location with Marie, Emma, and Jordan.
What will Gen V Season 2 be about?
It seems that Jordan, Emma, and Marie are released from their captivity by none other than Cate. The events of Gen V Season 2 are set after those of The Boys Season 4, where Homelander has effectively become the most powerful person in the US. Now that Homelander and his supporters are in authority, the syllabus of Godolkin University shifted to a more aggressive tone to match the political environment.
According to the official website of Amazon MGM Studios, the synopsis for the upcoming season reads:
"In Season Two, school is back in session. As the rest of America adjusts to Homelander's iron fist, back at Godolkin University, the mysterious new Dean preaches a curriculum that promises to make students more powerful than ever. Cate and Sam are celebrated heroes, while Marie, Jordan, and Emma reluctantly return to college, burdened by months of trauma and loss. But parties and classes are hard to care about with war brewing between Humans and Supes, both on and off campus. The gang learns of a secret program that goes back to the founding of Godolkin University that may have larger implications than they realize. And, somehow, Marie is a part of it."
Like it was the case in Gen V Season 1 finale, the closing minutes of the second season are expected to get the ball rolling for the events of The Boys Season 5, which is also the final season of the series.
All of us are going to feel Andre's absence in Gen V Season 2 when it releases on Wednesday, September 17, 2025.
