The third episode of The Last Frontier, Apple TV's latest crime thriller series, began where it left off in Episode 2. Havlock left a present for Frank Remnick in the form of an ice box and he began Episode 3 by opening it. Much to Frank's relief, the box does not contain Sarah's severed finger but her car keys. Havlock is clearly trying to reach an agreement with Frank, which is why he safely delivers his wife to him.
Elsewhere, Sarah tries to develop a connection with Sidney in The Last Frontier Episode 3. While Frank was against this, Sarah provided Sidney with important information about her time with Havlock and how he showed a keen interest in learning about Frank and their family.
The Last Frontier Episode 3 also suggested that Frank holds a dark secret and Havlock might have just found the key to unlock his enemy.
Here is the complete The Last Frontier Episode 3 recap.
The Last Frontier Episode 3 recap: Sarah is safe
Much to Frank's relief, Sarah's car keys pivoted them in the right direction. Frank managed to find Sarah's car and thanks to its navigation history, he was able to find Sarah in no time. The process of finding Sarah was so simple that Frank understood Havlock was planning something big.
Frank's equation with Sidney is complicated and it does not sit right with him when she tries to interrogate Sarah behind his back. While Sidney wanted to know what Havlock is up to, Frank does not want his wife to endure more trauma because of her. He apologises to Sarah and implies that he still hasn't forgotten about 'her' and cannot bear to lose her too. While it was not made clear who 'her' is, the episode suggested that Frank and Sarah might have lost a child/daughter because of Frank's Marshal job.
The Last Frontier Episode 3 recap: Havlock's terror spreads
While Sidney and Frank are contemplating their next move to capture Havlock, the former CIA officer makes his way into the woods to tend to his wounds. He crosses paths with the inmates who captured Caleb's father and takes him hostage as well. Havlock is smart enough to pretend to be a camper and goes with them.
It's quite unfortunate that a snow train, known as a tundra buggy, was having a tourist sightseeing tour in The Last Frontier Episode 3. As expected, it was taken hostage by the inmates. While the Marshals are informed about the buggy taken hostage by the runaway inmates, Havlock uses this opportunity to hack into the CIA's portal. While this is not good for the team, Frank gets a photo of one of the tourists via a shared phone account.
When the inmates learn that the Marshals are after their buggy, they decode Havlock's identity. One of the inmates recognises Havlock and just like that, his cover is blown. However, this only forces Havlock to take control of the buggy under him and wait for Frank to connect with him via radio.
The Last Frontier Episode 3 recap: Havlock knows Frank's secret
Once Frank manages to connect to Havlock via radio, he demands Sidney's XenoGate password, which would give him access to all of Sidney's assets. After much hesitation, Sidney finally gives him the password and Havlock use it to find a man named Armen Zhdanko, who stole Archive 6 and transferred it to a hard drive. Havlock then messages Armen through XenoGate and asks him to meet soon.
In the final moments of The Last Frontier Episode 3, Frank and Sidney take a chopper and land just in front of the tundra buggy under Havlock's control. While Sidney manages to take all the tourists to safety, Frank personally boards the buggy to have a conversation with Havlock. The former CIA agent tells Frank that he knows everything about his secret in the basement. Havlock wastes no time driving the buggy off a cliff and manages to escape from Frank again, just because he was hesitant to shoot him.
While Havlock runs off into the unknown, Frank rushes off to his basement. Havlock was not joking when he warned Frank about his secret because Frank had clearly hidden something. He opens a Walter Coates book and finds a hidden chest with a gun. Flashbacks reveal that the gun was an important piece of evidence Frank stole during a previous case. Havlock's threats clearly drove Frank to the edge and he joins Sidney in a bar to discuss their next move. Moreover, Frank has also stolen the memory chip from the printer and they now know what documents Havlock printed at Frank's house.
