The Neighborhood is being lauded as a unique sitcom that dives into how two very different families learn to live side by side. The story is filled with humorous and meaningful moments, as it begins with a white Midwestern family moving into a tight-knit community of black families.
At the center of The Neighborhood is Dave Johnson, a warm-hearted and optimistic man who recently moved from Michigan to Los Angeles with his family. Dave's wife Gemma takes on a new job as a school's principal, but their new home comes with an unexpected challenge: Adjusting to a community where they are very different from most of their neighbors.
Their next-door neighbor, Calvin Butler is a long-time resident of the neighborhood and is very protective of his surroundings and culture. He is not exactly thrilled when the Johnsons move in, and this way a new journey for both families begins.
Following the success of the first season, the sitcom was renewed several times and has now reached Season 7, which is soon going to end with a two-part finale set to air today, on May 5, 2025.
The first part, or Episode 19 is titled Welcome to Pomp and Circumstance, followed by the second part, Welcome to Venice, on CBS tonight. So, if you are a longtime fan, don't miss out on watching the finale of Season 7.

What happened in The Neighborhood Season 7 Episode 18: A quick recap

In this episode, the spotlight turns to a place from the past — the Yippedy-Dip, a restaurant that has clearly seen better days but holds deep sentimental value for Calvin Butler. Wanting to reconnect with a piece of his childhood, Calvin brings the whole Butler family along for a visit.
The place is old, rundown and no longer what it used to be, but to Calvin it is still magical because of the memories attached to it. As the family explores the restaurant, they meet its quirky and possibly overwhelmed owner, Jasper whose interaction adds a dose of humor and nostalgia to the storyline.
While the Butlers dive into Calvin’s past, the episode also follows a more emotional thread with Dave, Gemma, and Dave’s mother, Paula as they head to the prison to visit Lamar.
