The plot of The New Force

The show takes place in 1958 Sweden, when the first female police graduates receive their posting in the most crime-ridden police district in the country. To make matters worse, they find no support from the public and are instead made fun of by the media.

As they struggle, the police officers realize that dealing with criminals might be the easiest part of their job. However, they stay determined and do not give up on their dreams and their profession despite multiple setbacks. The official synopsis of the series reads:

“The year is 1958, and Sweden's first female police officers graduate; a small group of pioneers taking a big step for gender equality but struggling to take even the smallest step themselves, as the skirts they're forced to wear chafe like sandpaper against their thighs. They are ridiculed by the public, belittled by the media, and scorned by their colleagues.”

It continues,

“The new recruits are placed in the country's most crime-ridden district, the Klara police district in Stockholm, and as they start patrolling the streets of Stockholm, they soon realize that their biggest problem isn't the criminals; instead, the resistance comes from colleagues and the society as a whole.”

The cast of The New Force

The show stars Josefin Asplund as one of the main characters. The actress is known for playing Astrid in Vikings and Pernilla in The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. Young Royals actor Leonard Terfelt is also expected to appear in the show, along with Solsidan star Dominik Henzel.

The rest of the cast members include Agnes Rase, Malin Persson, Hannes Fohlin, Rasmus Luthander, Christopher Wagelin, Cilla Thorell, Pablo Leiva Wenger, Jimmy Lindström, and Peter Eriksson. The character names have not been disclosed yet. The full list of cast is given below:
