The Night Manager Season 2 kicked off 2026 on a high note as Tom Hiddleston's Jonathan Pine uncovered a new conspiracy in the first episode. The setting for the new season has changed to Colombia, as Pine has set his sights on Teddy Dos Santos, a Colombian philanthropist who shares a link with the season 1 arms dealer, Richard Roper.
The Night Manager Season 2 Episode 1 sets the stage for Pine to return to the world of undercover espionage after leaving it behind. Pine is just an MI6 officer who presides over a surveillance team called 'The Night Owls' at the start of the season 2 premiere. However, the return of Jaco Brouwer pulls Jonathan Pine back into the world of secret agents.
"Jonathan Pine (Tom Hiddleston) thought he’d buried his past. Now living as Alex Goodwin – a low-level MI6 officer running a quiet surveillance unit in London – his life is comfortingly uneventful. Then one night a chance sighting of an old Roper mercenary prompts a call to action and leads Pine to a violent encounter with a new player: Colombian businessman Teddy Dos Santos (Diego Calva). On this perilous new journey, Pine meets Roxana Bolaños (Camila Morrone), a businesswoman who reluctantly helps him infiltrate Teddy’s Colombian arms operation. Once in Colombia, Pine is plunged deep into a deadly plot involving arms and training of a guerrilla army. As allegiances splinter, Pine races to expose a conspiracy designed to destabilise a nation. And with betrayal at every turn, he must decide whose trust he needs to earn and how far he’s willing to go before it’s too late."
The Night Manager Season 2 Episode 1 recap
The Night Manager Season 2 begins with a flashback to 2019. Pine and Burr reunite in Syria, four years after they successfully brought down Roper in the first season. Season 1 ended on a cliffhanger note as Roper realizes that he was going to meet a grisly end, and The Night Manager Season 2 premiere confirms it. Burr and Pine identify Roper's body, and they figure out that he was murdered by his captors.
The episode then cuts to 2025, as Pine manages the MI6 surveillance unit, 'The Night Owls'. One day in the middle of an operation, Jonathan spots Jaco Brouwer, one of Roper's mercenaries. Pine informs Rex Mayhew about spotting Brouwer, and he simultaneously learns that Burr's Foreign Office superior is meeting a mysterious woman.
Mayhew tells Pine that he has uncovered something, but the former is murdered before he can reveal anything. His death is also declared a suicide, raising Jonathan's suspicions. 'The Night Owls' uncover Brouwer's connections with MI6 chief Mayra Cavendish and the criminal broker Adam Holywell. Meanwhile, Pine decides to investigate Mayhew's death and finds a hidden phone in Mayhew's home.
He uses the hidden phone, learns the identity of the woman Meyhew was secretly meeting: Roxana Bolaños, a Colombian businesswoman. He learns that she is looking into the philanthropist Teddy Dos Santos for Mayhew. Pine realizes that Dos Santos was one of Roper's former acolytes. This revelation is why Pine places Roxana into protective custody in London and decides to investigate it himself.
He learns that Teddy and Brouwer are meeting in Spain. For this mission, Pine, along with the help of two members of his team, Graham and Waleed, follows Brouwer. However, as soon as this meeting commences, Dos Santos figures out that Brouwer is compromised, resulting in the latter's death, as well as the deaths of Graham and Waleed. He also detonates a bomb, which almost kills Pine.
As the mission in Spain goes sideways, in London, Roxana's safehouse is breached by a gunman, ending the Season 2 premiere.
The Season 2 premiere is currently streaming on Prime Video.
