The Paper, a spin-off of the American version of The Office, is just a month away. Scheduled for release on September 4, 2025, the new series will comprise ten episodes. The first four episodes will be released together on September 4, 2025, and the remaining six episodes will be released weekly, with two episodes streaming together each week. This means that the first season of the series will conclude on September 25, 2025.
Based on the trailer released on August 7, 2025, it seems that the documentary crew that filmed Dunder Mifflin for almost a decade in The Office has moved to another struggling sector: Newspapers. In The Paper, the crew aims to shine light on the lives of people working for a struggling but historic, fictional midwestern newspaper, Toledo Truth-Teller.
What is the release date for The Paper?
As mentioned earlier, The Paper will begin streaming on the OTT platform Peacock. Episodes 1 to 4 will be released together on September 4, 2025. Then, the remaining six episodes will be released weekly, with two episodes streaming together each week, making the series end its ten-episode run on September 25, 2025.
Therefore, make sure to have a subscription for Peacock if you are interested in catching this The Office Spin-off.
Who are the actors involved in The Paper?
Much like The Office, it seems that the actors of this upcoming spin-off series also have the charm and likability of the actors from the original series. The show stars the following actors:
- Domhnall Gleeson: Ned Sampson, Toledo Truth-Teller's new editor-in-chief
- Sabrina Impacciatore
- Eric Rahill
- Ramona Young
- Melvin Gregg
- Tim Key
- Gbemisola Ikumelo
- Chelsea Frei
- Gbemisola Ikumelo
- Molly Ephraim
- Oscar Nuñez: Oscar Martinez, the Dunder Mifflin accountant
One of the highlights of the trailer is the presence of Oscar Martinez, who is again played by Oscar Nuñez, who played the character in all nine seasons of The Office.
How is Oscar in the spin-off series?
In the final season of The Office, Oscar decided to run for the Pennsylvania Senate against Senator Robert Lipton, Angela's husband. However, the ninth season also revealed that Robert was having an affair with Oscar. After Angela breaks off the marriage, she is initially cold towards Oscar for his betrayal as well. But they become friends, and she supports him in the senatorial race.
While the ninth season showed Oscar running for election, it also revealed that he continued to work for Dunder Mifflin. Therefore, on the surface, he is still working for the fictional paper company during the events of The Paper. Considering he is a recurring character in the spin-off series, the Toledo Truth-Teller might be one of Dunder Mifflin's clients across the US. The official logline for the series reads:
"The fictional camera crew that immortalized Dunder Mifflin are striking set and moving from Scranton to Toledo. The stars of their new mockumentary are staffers of a historic Midwestern newspaper, the 'Toledo Truth-Teller', and the publisher trying to bring it back to life with volunteer reporters."
