Netflix has set the return of Nobody Wants This. Season 2 arrives on October 23, 2025, and the news came with an update that immediately drew attention. Seth Rogen, the mind behind The Studio, will appear as a guest star. Kate Berlant will join him. Both names were confirmed by Netflix and reported by Variety and Deadline.
The announcement did not come with details about the roles. That part remains off limits for now. Even so, the addition changes the conversation around the series. What started as a small, odd comedy now expands with two recognizable figures from television and film.

Where the story of Nobody Wants This left off
The first season of Nobody Wants This centered on Joanne, an agnostic podcast host, and Noah, a rabbi trying to rebuild his life. Their first meeting happened at a party. What followed was less predictable. They walked out together, tested their differences, and tried to make space for each other while families circled close.
Season 2 picks up from there. Kristen Bell and Adam Brody return to their roles, now with the characters fully committed. The new chapter shows them trying to merge lives and loved ones. Netflix has described this as a shift in focus: not just about falling in love, but staying together despite the obstacles.
The cast in place
The ensemble returns. Justine Lupe, Timothy Simons, Jackie Tohn, Stephanie Faracy, Michael Hitchcock, Tovah Feldshuh, Paul Ben-Victor, and Sherry Cola are back.
Guest stars had already been announced before. Leighton Meester joins as Abby. Miles Fowler as Lenny. Alex Karpovsky as Big Noah. Arian Moayed as Dr. Andy. With the new update, Seth Rogen and Kate Berlant are added to that list.
Variety also noted Emily Arlook and Shiloh Berman among the names for the new season. These did not appear in the shorter lineup published by Netflix Tudum, but they are part of the extended casting news.
Rogen after The Studio
Rogen’s casting comes in the same year he collected multiple Emmys for The Studio. He won the lead actor in a comedy, directing, writing, and comedy series. With those victories, he tied the record for the most individual awards in one night. The Studio itself set a record for the most wins by a comedy in a single year.
It was also confirmed by Variety that he will executive-produce a Muppet Show anniversary special for Disney+, set to air in 2026. Coming off awards and new projects, Rogen enters Nobody Wants This with momentum that few performers share at the moment.

Berlant’s path
Kate Berlant has a career that moves between stage, television, and film. She released the stand-up special Cinnamon in the Wind in 2022 and co-starred in Would It Kill You to Laugh? the same year. On television, she has been part of The Bear, The Other Two, A League of Their Own, and Search Party.
Her film credits include Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood, Sorry to Bother You, and Don’t Worry Darling. Deadline reported that she also has several new projects in production, including Wishful Thinking and the independent thriller The Saviors.
Behind the scenes
The show was created by Erin Foster, who continues as executive producer. For the second season, Jenni Konner and Bruce Eric Kaplan take over as showrunners. Kristen Bell also serves as executive producer, alongside Steven Levitan, Sara Foster, Danielle Stokdyk, Jeff Morton, Nora Silver, and Oly Obst.
The series is produced by 20th Television. With Konner and Kaplan stepping in, the new episodes may carry shifts in pace and structure, but the creative foundation remains tied to its original style.

Looking ahead
The October premiere positions Nobody Wants This in a busy period for Netflix, when comedies and dramas often arrive in clusters. The returning leads, the supporting cast, and the mix of guest stars create a wide frame for the new season.
Rogen’s involvement, following the rise of The Studio, brings added visibility. Berlant adds her own presence, shaped by years of stand-up and a growing list of screen roles. Together, they bring outside recognition to a story that already held its own in its first year.
Closing note
Season 2 of Nobody Wants This combines what worked before with new pieces now in place. The return of Joanne and Noah, the supporting cast, and the addition of Seth Rogen and Kate Berlant form the center of the announcement. With its release set for October 2025, the series comes back with renewed attention and a stronger lineup.
