Genuine Fraud is officially bringing one of The Summer I Turned Pretty’s most beloved faces on board. Rain Spencer, who fans loved as Taylor Madison Jewel, is set to lead Amazon MGM Studios’ upcoming psychological thriller.

The show will be based on E. Lockhart’s bestselling novel of the same name, and it’s a big new move for the TSITP rising star.

Now, Spencer’s taking a new, never-before-seen energy and is putting it into something completely different from what we've previously seen of her on Cousins Beach with Belly and the guys.

This new project gives her a chance to play a lead as a young woman who molds herself into the life of a wealthy heiress who unexpectedly vanishes.

Unlike the beachy and romantic energy of The Summer I Turned Pretty, Genuine Fraud will delve into heavier YA themes, such as deception and identity. It’s the kind of role that lets Spencer flex a whole new side of her talent.

Behind the camera, the creative team is also comprised of extraordinary names associated with the show. Sinead Daly, who was one of the writers from TSITP Season 3, has created and written the new Amazon MGM series.

E. Lockhart, whose We Were Liars became a massive hit on Amazon, also joins the project as an executive producer along with Rain Spencer. With Patrick Moran and Lynley Bird from PKM Productions, this team is on its way to shape Genuine Fraud into Amazon’s next big YA obsession.
