LEGO Masters Season 5 Episode 9 aired on July 21, 2025. The latest semi-finals episode featured the remaining contestants. It included four teams, which competed against each other to grab a spot in the competition's next phase.
For the latest episode, stakes were even higher as the contestants were in the semi-finals. Show host Will Arnett revealed the task that they were supposed to go through. For that, he mentioned that the challenge would be the "toughest" in show's history.
Participants were tasked with building a setup which can move ping-pong ball from one side to the other side of the studio. With such an elegant working mechanism, contestants were supposed to show their finest craftsmenship along with their bold choice and creativity.
Revealing the challenge details, LEGO Masters' host said:
"It's the toughest challenge in LEGO Masters history."
LEGO Masters Season 5 Episode 9: Participants go through the latest semi-finals challenge
LEGO Masters Season 5 judges Jamie Berard and Amy Corbett, along with show host Will Arnett, revealed the semi-finals task. Four teams competed against each other. After the current task, two of those teams would be advancing to the competition's next phase. Hence, it was essential for each of the teams to deliver their best performance.
Four teams that participated in the semi-finals were:
- Anthony and Joe,
- Sage and Ian,
- Ben and Michael,
- Corey and Rebecca.
The challenge featured in the latest episode was GBC - Great Ball Contraptions. For that, teams were tasked with building a contraption, which consists of a mechanism that gets a ping-pong ball from one side to the other side. The mechanism was supposed to have a story, creativity, and working parts throughout each of the segments.
Anthony and Joe created an amusement park escape mechanism. Judges appreciated their creativity and also praised the structural stability of their LEGOs. Sage and Ian went ahead with their fairy-tale project. Despite facing a few issues, the two were able to have a smoothly working mechanism for the challenge.
Ben and Michael build a spaghetti and metaball mechanism. The duo ran into issues regarding the mechanical gears during the testing. As for Corey and Rebecca, they went ahead with their unique hairbrush speedway project. Even though they had quite a design, the structure didn't hold up as expected later on.
With a few issues during testing, Anthony and Joe were able to feature a working mechanism that ran smoothly. The duo earned the first spot. Second spot was given to Sage and Ian. Even after facing technical issues, the two were able to fix the issues and work on their project early on.
The bottom two teams were Corey-Rebecca and Ben-Michael. The latest LEGO Masters episode saw Corey and Rebecca going home. As a result, Ben and Michael became the first team to grab a secure spot for the upcoming finale.
For the upcoming episode, fans will witness three teams:
- Anthony and Joe,
- Sage and Ian,
- Ben and Michael.
They will go through the Free Build challenge.
