CBS's action-drama series Tracker will return on October 19, 2025, with Season 3. In Season 2, Colter Shaw, played by Justin Hartley, finally finds out more about his father's death.

While shocking information about his mother's involvement in his father's death was shared, Colter also solved various other cases with his exceptional tracking skills in Season 2 of Tracker. He also learned about his father's involvement in secretive government research work.

Here's the complete Tracker Season 2 recap you need before delving into Season 3 of the popular series.

Tracker Season 2 recap: Colter finds more clues about his father

In Season 2 of the CBS show, Hartley's lone-wolf survivalist character, Colter, used his tracking skills not just to track down heinous criminals, such as discovering the child trafficking network, but also to find out more about his dad, Ashton Shaw's death.

One of the clues that Colter got earlier in the season was the box with his father's things. It also contained a phone number, which, when tracked, was revealed to be the number of a scientist named David Pearson, who had government ties and apparently died by suicide shortly after Colter's father's death.

This information was a major clue, as it was already shared in Season 1 that Ashton Shaw was connected to some research work and thought he was being followed by the government.

Tracker Season 2 recap: The child trafficking case led Colter to his father's murderer

Season 2 of Tracker finally revealed the killer of Ashton Shaw. Earlier, Colter's mother accused his older brother, Russell, of being the one who pushed their father off the cliff. However, Colter finally found out it was not his brother but someone else.

Aside from Bill's death, Colter busts the child trafficking network by capturing the people and shooting Carl Murphy, the main suspect Bill was looking for and also the one who owned the wooden carving with Ashton's name on it. Colter then visits Murphy's uncle, Otto Waldron, who knew his father.

After sharing his story about how he met Ashton, Otto also confessed to Colter about pushing his father off the cliff. However, he also revealed another shocking piece of information: whatever he did was to help his mother, Mary Dove Shaw.

Tracker Season 2 recap: Mary's involvement in Ashton's death

One of the biggest revelations and cliffhangers of Season 2 of the action drama series was about the involvement of Mary in her husband's death. She, from the beginning of the series, has been trying to pin Russell, played by Jensen Ackles, for pushing Ashtin from the cliff. However, at the very end of the finale, Otto revealed to Colter that his mother had asked him to do it.

He further told him that there was no government ploy in place in Ashton's death. However, it was not shown how Colter reacted to the truth, and it will be depicted in the upcoming season.

Apart from Colter, his tech team's future was also left hanging in Season 2, with Reenie still dealing with the trauma of being kidnapped and almost killed in Season 2. Furthermore, her decision to continue to work with Leo, which turned out to be life-threatening this season, will also be depicted in Season 3.

Although Season 2 of Tracker revealed Ashton Shaw's killer, there are numerous questions still brewing about his involvement with the government and why Mary asked Otto to kill her husband, which might be some of the major storylines in the upcoming season.
