The Walking Dead: Dead City Season 2 Episode 2, 'Another Sh**** Lesson,' was released on May 11, 2025. In this intense episode, Maggie warns the New Babylon Federation about the dangers of their mission and how the Croats might attack them if they travel via ferry. Meanwhile, Hershel reaches the campsite and reunites with Maggie. In Manhattan, Negan joins the war on the other side (The Croat and the Dama) but faces a brutal outcome. Dama killed Victor as a form of retaliation against Negan.

As the battle for Manhattan heats up, expect some intense showdowns and explosive actions. Here's what happened in the latest episode of The Walking Dead: Dead City.
The Walking Dead: Dead City Season 2 Episode 2: Is the New Babylon Federation walking into a trap?
The episode starts with the meeting of the New Babylon Federation members to discuss their next move on their mission to Manhattan. While the New Babylon Federation decides they will use the ferry to reach Manhattan, Maggie warns them that the Croat might locate them. Major Lucia Narvaez asks Maggie to leave the tent. Colonel Perlie Armstrong follows Maggie outside, where she keeps on nagging about the fact that the Croat isn't naive, and he knows about this mission and is well prepared with his forces. In the tent, Maggie tries to talk to Ginny and assures her that she's there for her.
Maggie then discovers a black smoke signal, and when she tries to locate its origin, she finds her son Hershel on horseback. Hershel confesses that he was worried about Maggie and thus decided to leave the Bricks settlement to find them. However, the New Babylon Federation captures them before they can leave for their settlement. Major Lucia accuses Maggie of not following the rules of the Federation and accuses her of deserting them. Perlie tries to save Maggie, but she seems quite furious and decides to leave the Federation. Major Lucia warns Maggie that if she decides to leave the mission midway, she will be hanged. Out of rage and frustration, Maggie punches her face. As a consequence of this action, Maggie and Hershel are then taken as prisoners and locked in the bottom of the ferry.
Meanwhile, Perlie meets Maggie, where he confesses that he does not agree with Major Lucia's planning, but he has no option but to obey the major. Maggie repeatedly warns that their mission via ferry must be cancelled or else they will be shot down by The Croat forces.
And yes! The New Babylon Federation did walk into a trap! The Croat's team attacks them with homemade bombs. While Ginny releases Maggie and Hershel from the shaft, they begin to search for an escape route. On the other side, Negan, who had already embraced his old self (as seen in the previous episode with his Lucille 2.0), locates Hershel on the ferry via binoculars. Negan instructs the forces to bomb in a different direction. Meanwhile, the Croat didn't look too happy with Negan's move.
Why did The Dama kill Victor in The Walking Dead: Dead City Season 2 Episode 2?
In this episode, we see Negan has a heartfelt chat with his ex-prison guard, Victor, as they talk about childhood and music. Elsewhere Negan meets The Dama and the Croat, who inform him that the Christos and Bruegel haven't decided whether they will join the fight against the New Babylon Federation. They soon began to prepare for the upcoming attack on Manhattan by making bombs and other ammunition.
The Croat decides to give a pep talk to Negan and even narrates instances from Negan's violent and brutal past. During the attack on the New Babylon Federation ferry, the Croat noticed how Negan saved Hershel by asking the forces to bomb other parts. Well, this made The Croat quite angry, and he wanted to teach Negan a lesson.
The Dama questions Negan about his motives when suddenly Victor barges into the room. The Dama then instructs him to play the violin. As he starts to play a Bach piece, Negan becomes quite furious and confesses that he manipulated the attack because he did not want a random kid to die.
The Dama, the master manipulator, tests Negan's loyalty in the most brutal way possible. When Victor's performance was over, she praised him and, in a moment, slit his throat. Negan breaks down and cries his heart out. What will be Negan's next move when an act of humanity has cost him almost everything?
Will Maggie and Hershel's reunion be short-lived?
After the brutal attack on Burazi, Maggie, Ginny, Hershel, and the rest of the surviving Federation members reach the Manhattan shores and reunite. Hershel is quite remorseful about his reckless action and reunites with Maggie, but their relief seems to be short-lived.
Ginny, on the other hand, gets hold of Major Lucia's gun and secretly watches the mother-son bond. Is she biding her time for revenge? Or does she have another plan? With the Croat's forces closing in and tensions rising among the survivors, Maggie's journey to protect Hershel is far from over.
