HBO has ample trust in Mike White's vision as The White Lotus was officially renewed for a fourth season even before the premiere of Season 3. After the tremendous success of the first two seasons and another round of acclaim for Season 3, anticipation is building for what twists are yet to be unveiled and the familiar or new faces that will be part of the show.

Season 3 comes with a new cast, but there is a connection over which the drama is unfolding. Characters like Greg and Belinda might return in the next season, keeping alive the threads from earlier narratives. However, according to reports, The White Lotus Season 4 might see the debut of this one character, and it's supposed to be played by Laura Dern. It is speculated that she will appear as Di Grasso's estranged wife. Read on to know how.

Here is how The White Lotus is setting up this character’s full debut in Season 4

Dominic Di Grasso becomes the anchor point of the story in Season 2 of The White Lotus. At the resort, he meets Lucia, a local s*x worker he had once connected with online. His life turns upside down when they start to get emotionally involved, as at the time Dominic was also trying to patch things up with his estranged wife. By the season's end, Dominic cut ties with Lucia in a bid to salvage his marriage. His arc left the door open for more, especially when you consider who his wife is.

During a brief phone call in Season 2, we get to hear Di Grasso's wife's voice from the other side, which is provided by Laura Dern. At the time, fans thought it was just a fun Easter egg or a one-off cameo, but on July 17, the maker of the show was seen sharing smoothies with Dern at Sun Life Organics in Brentwood, Los Angeles. Now the fans are speculating that Dern will officially appear on screen in Season 4—not just as a voice.

Dominic left for a potential redemption and reconciliation with his family in Season 2 and is expected to return in Season 4. Moreover, the reports have confirmed the show has cast an A-list actor for the new season, who is expected to shake up the storyline a bit. All of these, again, simply validate the Dern theory.

While Tanya McQuoid's shocking death in Season 2 rules out her return, other key characters stand a chance to return in future seasons. Among them is Greg, whose involvement in Tanya's death remains a mystery. Fans would also be eager to see Belinda's status as the season progresses.

Whatever happens, more drama and adventure are promised in The White Lotus. What Di Grassos' reappearance in the new resort adds to is only to be seen, but it could indeed deepen the exploration of the show's themes, such as generational masculinity, guilt, and redemption, while Laura Dern’s character could be central to a Di Grasso family reunion arc.

If the Di Grassos return, and Laura Dern steps into the role fully, then Season 4 isn’t just a continuation—it’s a reckoning. Catch The White Lotus Seasons 1 and 2 only on HBO.
