Washington Black begins by introducing us to an overenthusiastic and grown-up Wash, who wants to make his own aircraft. The first episode of Washington Black also gives us a glimpse of Wash's introduction to science and engineering.

It all started when he was just a young boy, living on a sugar plantation. He met Tom Ellis’s Titch, who showed him how to use a telescope, through which he saw the moon up close. The young boy couldn’t contain his smile after experiencing the magic of science and engineering. He later worked with Titch, who discovered his talent for art and encouraged him to work on it more.

6) Titch and Wash fly away after Phillip’s death (Episode 2)

Phillip’s death is the turning point in Wash’s story in Washington Black. He was the only person present when Phillip died, making him the prime suspect. However, Titch saves him by using his newly built aircraft, through which they both fly away from the plantation so that Wash does not get punished.

With flyways above the vast oceans, the series keeps us hooked with the breathtaking beauty of the scenes, which not only but has also affected Wash, who couldn’t contain his excitement of seeing the vast ocean from above, and was captivated by encountering dolphins for the first time, making it one of the best moments of the Hulu series.

5) Tanna meets Wash (Episode 3)

After finding out about Tanna getting married, Wash, now Jack Crawford, was heartbroken. In episode 3 of Washington Black, Miss Angie meets Tanna and tells her about Wash’s condition after hearing the news, prompting her to go and meet him.

The meeting became a heartwarming reunion between the two and another joyful moment in the series. They both confessed to the truths about their lives that had made their life difficult and also how being in each other’s lives made their lives beautiful.

Washington Black often dabbles in the present and past lives of the characters, showing the viewers how the relationship between the characters developed. In episode 4 of the miniseries, we are shown a glimpse of Wash meeting Tanna and her father for the second time and helping him in finding a specimen for his research.

Wash tries to make small talk with Mr. Goff by telling him how he is a big fan of his book, Resplendence of Nudbranchia, which has inspired him since he was a little boy. Tanna, lying about hurting her arm, gives Wash a chance to become a part of Mr. Goff’s research when he is sent underwater to collect a specimen. In this vast journey of life and adventure, Wash adds another never-before-seen experience of swimming amid the sea creatures deep into the waters.

Just like us, Wash is mesmerized by the mysterious yet picturesque scenes and also brings a rare octopus onboard, impressing Mr. Goff.

From the blue oceans, Wash now experienced the white snow-covered land, which couldn’t help but let Wash sigh and get entranced in the sublime and new surroundings that he was in. While the journey became a lot tougher for him after this, it was another of his best moments of the adventurous life that Wash was living.

After hiding away for a long time, the hunters finally get hold of Wash in the previous episodes of Washington Black. John Willard, one of the hunters, even captures him to take him back to where he had been running from since he was a child. However, in episode 6, Wash gets his chance to escape from being caught.

He runs away from Willard, who was following his trail. Wash knew he couldn’t escape just by running away this time, so he had to do some quick thinking and build a trap with the wooden spikes of the dried-out trees in the forest. As Willard approached Wash, he fell on one of the spikes that went straight through his thigh, while another long, spiky branch fell directly on him.

Seeing Wash using whatever he has learned while following his passion for science and engineering, for survival, is one of the best moments of the miniseries.

Ending his journey by going to Dahomey made Wash’s quest to find himself complete, as he ended it among his people, making it the perfect end for Wash’s journey.
