Peacemaker Season 2's first episode ends on a shocking note as Christopher accidentally kills his multiversal counterpart. This sets up an interesting conflict between him and the family of the man he killed. We already knew that the second season would deal with the multiverse, and the rest of the episodes will deal with repercussions of this action.
In this Peacemaker Season 2 episode, Chris discovers that his multiversal self is a popular hero, his brother is alive, and that his father, Auggie, actually loves him. However, in the last act of the episode, as the Chris we have been following since the first season is about to return to the QUC, he encounters the Peacemaker of the universe, who attacks him.
As the two Christophers fight, our Peacemaker manages to enter the pocket dimension. He is followed by the other Chris, and he gains an upper hand on the look-alike he suspects is a shape-shifter. Our Christopher accidentally kills his multiversal counterpart. In the upcoming episodes, the dead Christopher's family will want revenge because it is hinted that they are costumed vigilantes.
This Peacemaker Season 2 episode reveals that the adult Keith and Auggie are celebrated figures in their universe:
Our Christopher discovers that his multiversal counterpart's life is idyllic, as the Smiths of this universe, consisting of Kieth and Auggie, are a popular superhero team. However, some are also theorizing that all might not be as it seems. Some believe that there might be more to the Smith family of this universe.
Some believe that this is a Universe in which heroes don't exist anymore, and that Christopher of this universe joined his father and brother in participating in the systematic oppression of the world.
If the Peacemaker Season 2 trailer is to be believed, after killing his multiversal counterpart, Chris steals his multiversal counterpart's life. But Auggie and Kieth discover the deception and seek revenge for their Chris's death. And, as Chris tries to evade his brother and father from another universe, he has to escape Rick Flag Sr. and his A.R.G.U.S. agents, too.
Looks like James Gunn modified his initial idea for Peacemaker Season 2:
On August 20, 2025, Gunn and DP Sam McCurdy appeared on Deadline's Crew Call podcast, where Gunn explained that the second season would've seen Peaemaker fighting his dead father's white supremacist thugs. Thus, his initial plan for Peacemaker Season 2 sounds more grounded than what we got in the first episode. Here is what the Peacemaker showrunner said about his original season 2 plan:
“The first time I wrote a rough outline of season 2, it had to do with other white supremacist superheroes who were after Peacemaker for killing his father because he was their comrade,” says Gunn, “For me, it played a little bit too much like season one and I wanted to turn the story on its heels.”
While the second season may or may not feature dead Auggie's white supremacist friends, it does feature a different version of White Dragon. Moreover, it revolves heavily around Chris dealing with the consequences of killing Rick Flag Jr. in The Suicide Squad.
