Netflix is bringing one of the most underrated sci-fi gems to your screen this July. And you might want to set a reminder. The Lazarus Project is a gripping British time-loop thriller that’s already scored a perfect 100% on Rotten Tomatoes. It is finally making its way to the streaming giant, Netflix.

If you love shows that mess with time, fate, and moral consequences, then this one should absolutely be on your watchlist.

The show originally aired on Sky Max in the UK and quickly became a cult favorite among sci-fi lovers. But unless you live in the UK or got very creative with your VPN, you’ve probably missed out.

Well, not anymore. The Lazarus Project is officially dropping on Netflix on July 28, and honestly, it’s about time. Two seasons packed with time resets, ethical dilemmas, espionage, and emotional moments are waiting for you.

Netflix is bringing The Lazarus Project, and here's everything to know

The Lazarus Project asks, what if you could rewind time to stop global catastrophes, but only if the whole world forgets everything that happened? George is the lead character, played by Paapa Essiedu. He wakes up one day, realizing time has reset, and only he remembers what happened.

Soon, he’s recruited by a top-secret organization called the Lazarus Project. They use this bizarre ability to keep humanity from self-destructing. The show gets right into the emotional toll of those resets. Then the questions of who gets saved, who gets sacrificed, and what it does to your sanity surface.

The official synopsis, per Rotten Tomatoes, is as follows:

“George is under the impression that he is beginning to lose touch with reality when he finds himself living the same day over and over again. A chance encounter with a man called Archie reveals that George is very much in touch with reality, but at the same time, reality can be stranger than fiction. With George's newfound understanding of his power and perception of space-time, he is forced to choose between loyalty to an organization trying to save the world and the ability to rewrite the past for a friend.”

The show is also as human as it can get. George is relatable, flawed, and just trying to make sense of a very messed-up reality. The writing is tight, the action scenes are slick, and the stakes are absolutely massive. Also, the editing is sharp and stylish, and keeps you guessing at every turn.

The Lazarus Project was sadly canceled after two seasons despite having a perfect Rotten Tomatoes score. But fans haven’t given up hope. The show left behind some massive unresolved threads (especially in that cliffhanger of a finale), and its Netflix debut could spark new interest.

So, could Netflix make Season 3 happen? Stranger things have literally happened (pun intended). If enough people tune in on Netflix, there’s always a chance someone will revive it. The fanbase is always ready.
