Tracker Season 3 Episode 8 reveals that Aubrey from the cold open hasn't returned home for a year and her mother, Sierra, brings Colter on the case. She tells Colter that Aubrey's father died of an overdose before she was born and she has also been sober for about 10 months now. Sierra asked for Colter's help because she saw Aubrey's favorite dress, the one she was wearing when she went missing, hanging on the clothesline in her backyard, all ripped and bloody. Since the town and the police accuse her of her daughter's disappearance and believe that Sierra's addiction likely killed Aubrey, she cannot go to the police and is asking Colter's help.

While Colter promises to help her find Aubrey, he advises her to call the police as it would become an issue later. Lead Detective Tyson West introduces himself to Colter and is convinced that Sierra is responsible for her daughter's disappearance. She was found drunk in her house when Aubrey went missing, with the latter's blood on the broken alcohol bottle. While Tyson takes Sierra for interrogation, Colter is introduced to the former lead detective on the case, Arthur Poness, who is surprisingly helpful towards our tracker.

Tracker Season 3 Episode 8 recap: Colter solves the mystery of the ripped dress

The case in Tracker Season 3 Episode 8 takes a different direction when Colter spots a security camera at one of the neighbours'. Randy does his magic, and the footage shows a kid on a bicycle wearing a hoodie with a Captain Calabash logo, planting the dress on the clothesline. Captain Calabash turns out to be a restaurant and one of the employees recognizes the kid as Spencer, Sierra's ex, Trevor's son. Colter meets up with Spencer and asks him about the dress, which he claims he found in his father's old storage shed. Spencer reveals his father is an angry man who once chopped his uncle, Derek's, two fingers off.

Colter's investigation in Tracker Season 3 Episode 8 takes him to Trevor's shed and he believes his dog must have smelled the blood and dug the dress out. Things take a harrowing turn when Trevor arrives at the house and makes a run for it but our tracker tackles and handcuffs him. However, Trevor maintains that the shed and dress belong to his brother, Derek, whom he has not seen since Aubrey's disappearance. Colter asks Randy to check Derek's phone location and our hacker reveals that the suspect hasn’t used his credit card or phone since the day after Aubrey went missing and it was last active at the shoreline two miles from Trevor’s house.

Tracker Season 3 Episode 8 recap: Aubrey's missing case takes a shocking turn

After Randy sends him the location in Tracker Season 3 Episode 8, our tracker drives there and discovers a skeleton in the water. Two missing fingers are a dead giveaway that it is Derek's body and he also sees a gunshot wound to his forehead. Colter believes that Derek handed Aubrey to somebody and was later killed. The case takes a harrowing turn when Colter finds out that the land is owned by Blue Creek Holdings, a trust set up by none other than Arthur. As Colter warns Tyson about Arthur, he takes the lead detective at gunpoint and orders him to drive.

Colter finally arrives at Arthur's house, only to find Aubrey's pictures with both Arthur and his wife, Iris, labelled as grandma and grandpa. Sierra tells Colter that Arthur is in fact Aubrey's grandfather, as she had her with his son, Jason. While Arthur did not know about Aubrey, he blamed Sierra for Jason's death. Colter reaches Arthur via Tyson's phone and he claims he found Aubrey with Derek, who planned to do “unspeakable things'' to her. After Iris noticed Aubrey's similarities to Jason, the couple realized that she was their granddaughter. Arthur lied to Aubrey that her mother was dead.

The final action in Tracker Season 3 Episode 8 took us to Arthur's boat, Eurydice. The couple was trying to escape with Aubrey but our tracker arrived at the right moment. When Arthur realized he had finally lost the battle, he asked Aubrey to reveal herself and Sierra was happy to see her daughter at last. While Arthur and Iris were wrong, she understood their intentions and thanked Colter for bringing her daughter back.
