More about Emily In Paris and Diego Borella
The production crew behind Netflix's smash series Emily in Paris has been devastated. The 47-year-old assistant director of the show, Diego Borella, collapsed on set and was later pronounced dead.
On August 21, 2025, the incident happened as the actors and crew got ready to film the season's last scene at the famed Hotel Danieli, and witnesses claim that Borella fainted in front of his colleagues.
Upon their prompt arrival, emergency medical personnel made every effort to preserve his life, and he was declared dead at around 7:30 p.m. local time, despite their best efforts. At first, local health officials said the reason was an unexpected heart attack.
Borella was a well-known television personality and filmmaker, and throughout his career, he had worked on international projects. He had been trained in Rome, London, and New York, and all his coworkers commended him for his dedication, professionalism, and cool head.
He demonstrated his wide range of creativity by writing children's books and fairy tales in addition to his film efforts. In addition to the Emily in Paris cast, his passing has had a significant effect on the larger Venetian film industry, where he was well-regarded.
Following the incident, Netflix and Paramount Television Studios issued a joint statement, which read:
"We are profoundly grieved to report the unexpected death of a member of the Emily in Paris production family. Our thoughts are with the individual's family and loved ones during this extremely difficult time.”
Season 5 production was immediately suspended to allow the cast and staff time to grieve, and filming, which had mainly begun on August 15, was scheduled to end on August 25 and was postponed. As per reports, filming resumed momentarily on August 23. This was done, although the timetable remains undetermined.
Borella's death has cast a pall. This is mainly about what was intended to be a joyful season, and Emily in Paris has received international recognition. This has been since its debut in 2020, and this is primarily because of its distinct combination of comedy, romance, fashion, and magnificent landscape. This unexpected tragedy serves as a reminder of the real people and lives behind the flash and glamour of television.
