After an explosive fire in the Tulsa King Season 3 premiere, which claimed the life of Theo Montague, Episode 2 began with a funeral. The Dunmires declared war against the Montagues and Dwight by burning the former's family patriarch alive. Their message was simple: the Dunmires run the liquor show here! Since the Montagues had tried to cut a deal with the General, their family house was up in flames.
Tulsa King Season 3 Episode 2 began with Theo's funeral, which was naturally an emotional moment for his daughter, Cleo. However, Jeremiah Dunmire and Cole's presence made the atmosphere tense. Cleo could not allow her father's killers to attend his funeral, which is why she ordered them to leave. Jeremiah left the funeral, but not before spewing a subtle threat to Dwight and offering him three times more than the Montague family distillery. But the main question is, why are the Dunmires so interested in the Montague family business?
Here is the complete Tulsa King Season 3 Episode 2 recap.
Tulsa King Season 3 Episode 2 recap: Dwight hits a jackpot
After Dwight's heated argument with the Dumires at Theo's funeral in Tulsa King Season 3, he discovers that the Montague family distillery has not made a profit in over ten years and does not have a distributor (making it illegal to sell their booze). While Dwight's sister Joanne advises him to take Jeremiah's offer, Dwight shuts it down. However, this offer has Dwight wondering why Jeremiah was ready to pay him three times in return for an unprofitable distillery. When he takes this matter to Cleo, she takes Dwight and his crew to an old crypt.
Tulsa King Season 3 Episode 2 finally revealed the secret behind the Montague family distillery: 50-year-old bourbon, made by three generations of Montague men. Revealing these bourbon-filled barrels to Dwight and his crew, Cleo claims that his father's will contained the location to this family lineage, and just like that, Dwight hit the jackpot. Cleo also revealed that Jeremiah has an inkling about this jackpot, but was not able to find it. Dwight estimates that the 200 barrels could make them $150 million worth of profits.
Tulsa King Season 3 Episode 2 recap: Dwight's Herculean quest to find a distributor
While Dwight hit the jackpot in Tulsa King Season 3 Episode 2, with that 50-year-old Bourbon, the booze is no good if the General cannot sell it legally. He also realized that the Dunmires had rigged the distributors so that the booze could not be sold legally. The General now had the Herculean task of finding a distributor and selling the booze legally.
Dwight's crew found the Montagues' former distributor, Walden, but he refused to sell the Montague booze again. However, Dwight realized that Walden is denying because of the Dunmires. The Dunmires have everyone under their control, but Bigfoot and Mitch convince Walden that they will offer him protection. In return, Walden will become their new distributor, and this deal was sealed in Tulsa King Season 3.
Elsewhere, Dwight also had a run-in with two of his former adversaries, Bill and Cal Thresher. Bill was angry that Dwight had kept his booze endeavors hidden from him. However, the General managed to cut a deal with Bill. He will provide him with vans to transport the liquor in return for profits. Elsewhere, Dwight also cut a deal with Cal, who was running for governor. He threatened to expose his 'secret' if he did not offer protection to Dwight's new liquor endeavour.
Tulsa King Season 3 Episode 2 recap: A dangerous confrontation
Tulsa King Season 3 Episode 2 concluded with Cleo and Mitch attending to two violent guests. While the duo were resting in Mitch's cabin, two masked men attacked them, but Cleo managed to cut one of the thugs' arms with a knife. It was later revealed that the thug was Cole, who was sent by his father to attack Mitch.
However, after his son's failure, Jeremiah decided to visit Dwight himself. He pays the General a visit in his casino and threatens to destroy his empire if he does not back away from the liquor business. Episode 2 ended with Jeremiah's ominous warning:
"So given your intrusion, I am obligated to destroy everything you have built, and everyone you love, piece by piece, limb by limb, for my and my descendants' sake."
To this, Dwight replied:
"Your empire is in danger, Dunmire... I'm gonna take it from you. All of it, every bit. Then 10 more, then 20 more, on the back of what you and your kin built."
While the pair broke off for now, this threat and warning have set a bloody tone for Tulsa King Season 3.
