Taylor Sheridan's Tulsa King Season 3 premiered on Paramount+ on September 21, marking Sylvester Stallone's return as Dwight "The General" Manfredi. After turning around his life in Tulsa in the previous two seasons, Dwight is all set to enter into a new business venture. However, he will be faced with new challenges, former friends turned foes, and deadly adversaries in the latest installment.

The new season was primarily shot in Atlanta, Georgia. Parts were also filmed in Oklahoma and New York.

In addition to Stallone, the returning cast for Tulsa King Season 3 includes Martin Starr, Andrea Savage, and Frank Grillo.

More on this in our story.

Tulsa King Season 3 was filmed in Oklahoma and Atlanta

Staying true to its roots, Sheridan's Tulsa King Season 3 was shot in Oklahoma and Atlanta. While the series was entirely shot in Oklahoma (at Prairie Surf Studios) in Season 1, the crew moved to Georgia in the sophomore season. It was reported that the high production cost and extreme Oklahoma temperatures forced the crew to move their Season 2 production to Atlanta. The entirety of the sophomore season was shot in Atlanta, Georgia, the suburb of Norcross, and sound stages at Eagle Rock Studios.

The crew decided to replicate the production process in Tulsa King Season 3, as the majority of the new season was shot in Georgia. According to The Oklahoman, Tulsa King was not listed among the recipients of the Oklahoma state film and television incentive that will film in Oklahoma this year. This suggests that the extreme temperatures of the Sooner State kept the crew out of its territory and the new season was entirely shot in Georgia.

However, it was reported that the crew shot some exterior scenes in Oklahoma, which will likely be used in the new season. Additionally, some scenes for Tulsa King Season 3 were shot in New York City. Stallone shared this filming update on his Instagram and shared a picture of himself outside Mulberry Street Cigar Bar in New York, with the following caption:

"Thankful to be shooting a scene of TULSA KING in NYC today.''

This confirms that, like the previous seasons, Dwight Manfredi returned to New York City in Tulsa King Season 3.

Other filming locations for Tulsa King

Since a majority of the debut season was shot in Oklahoma, the Tulsa King crew used several key filming locations. These are as follows:

  • Tulsa International Airport
  • Center of the Universe
  • Mayo Hotel
  • Prairie Surf Studios
  • Gainesville, Georgia
  • Brooklyn, New York

Tulsa King's filming choices are certainly no surprise, as another Sheridan hit series, Landman, was also shot entirely in Texas. While most modern TV shows turn to green screens, CGI, and high-tech methods to recreate realism, Sheridan takes a bolder route by filming entirely on location.

While several factors affect the production process of a show, no green screen can replicate the authenticity and realism of a show shot on location.
