When Teen Wolf aired on MTV between 2011 and 2017, the supernatural drama acquired a cult following. The craze around the show has not died down after its conclusion, and in fact, the franchise was continued with a movie in 2023.

It has been two years since the film arrived on Paramount+, and ever since, fans have been wondering if the franchise will continue with more projects. Tyler Posey, who played the lead role of Scott McCall in the TV show as well as the movie, has now said that he is willing to make more content around Teen Wolf.

In an interview with US Magazine, the actor revealed that the franchise is certainly going to continue, but he does not yet know whether it will be in the form of a show or a movie. He said:

“I don’t know if we want to revisit [the story] as films or TV series format, but I’m going to do my best to make sure that there is plenty more Teen Wolf for everyone to fall in love with. I want to spearhead it. I feel like I have the creative passion, ambition and love for the project to really cater to what the fans want.”

Tyler Posey talks about the future of Teen Wolf

Tyler Posey added that he had signed a contract for three Teen Wolf movies with Paramount+. While only one film has been made, he does not know whether the deal is still being upheld by the streaming platform.

The actor, who also served as a producer on both the TV series and the film, further revealed that he is now considering selling the rights of the franchise to another platform, especially to Netflix.

Posey also disclosed what the next chapter of the franchise could be about. He said it will revolve around werewolves and their human aspect:

“[It will focus on] the werewolves, werewolf hunters and the symbolic-ness of the human aspect of the werewolf. [It would be] a challenge because you’re not leaning so much on the lore aspect, but would “still [be] fun to get into.”

The original series followed Scott McCall, played by Tyler Posey, who became a werewolf after being bitten by the creature. He used his powers to save the fictional town of Beacon Hills from supernatural entities.

The movie was then set 15 years after the events of the show and chronicled Scott as he gathered some new and old allies to fight off a deadly threat. The series aired six seasons and 100 episodes between 2011 and 2017 on MTV. Talking about how the fans of the show have grown up with the franchise, Posey said:

“They’re all grown up now. I want to pay homage to where the fans are now. I think what was so great about Teen Wolf, when it first came out, was that it was symbolic of teenagers and their angst.”

Apart from Posey, the show starred Dylan O'Brien as Stiles Stilinski, Tyler Hoechlin as Derek Hale, Crystal Reed as Allison Argent, Holland Roden as Lydia Martin, Shelley Hennig as Malia Tate, Dylan Sprayberry as Liam Dunbar, Linden Ashby as Sheriff Noah Stilinski, JR Bourne as Chris Argent, and Melissa Ponzio as Melissa McCall.
