Wild Cards Season 2 brought back the unexpected crime-solving duo of Max Mitchell and Cole Ellis, as their journey continues after a major twist at the end of Season 1. While Max is a con artist, Cole is a serious, by-the-book detective who was recently demoted.
In the new chapter, the story shifts to finding out who killed Cole's brother, and Max makes some big revelations about this case. As Wild Cards Season 2 unfolds, Max and Cole are forced to continue working together despite the strain between them.
While the two initially wished to get rid of each other, fans have been rooting for this duo since the beginning. Interestingly, the finale was originally supposed to feature a kiss between Max and Ellis on the boat.
As Giacomo Gianniotti revealed:
"The way it was written in this finale is that at the boat they were supposed to share a kiss."
The actor continued:
"We, ultimately, landed on an embrace, which felt like a kiss, to be honest. It had all the same kind of sparks."
Gianniotti explained that there was a kiss scene between Max and Cole and that he even discussed it with his co-star Vanessa Morgan. However, the kiss felt too sudden due to their dropping the scene.

Wild Cards Season 2 almost featured a kiss between Cole and Max

Wild Cards Season 2 concluded without revealing if Max was able to catch up with Cole in the end, as he asked her to accompany him on the trip his deceased brother always wished for. But what if we tell you they almost kissed?
As explained earlier, Max and Cole were supposed to kiss each other at the end of Wild Cards Season 2, which would have been the cherry on top for fans hoping to see their chemistry reach its peak. However, it felt too sudden, so they changed it to a heartfelt embrace.
Giacomo Gianniotti added:
"I think the embrace was a promise of a kiss should she come back on the boat, and then we don’t get that opportunity."
He continued:
"They both clearly want that. They just don’t know how to say it to each other."
Gianniotti believed that this decision ended up heightening the emotional intimacy. The hug in Wild Cards Season 2 was full of chemistry, and in a way, it was just as significant as a kiss.
It was a symbol of what might have been. An unspoken promise about what would have been if Max had gotten on the boat. His co-star also agreed and mentioned that the lack of a kiss leaves the audience hungry for more.
