Netflix’s latest murder mystery, Untamed, has been winning appreciation from viewers due to its twisty tale of a murder case in the rough terrain of Yosemite National Park. The miniseries tells the story of Kyle Turner (Eric Bana), an ISB agent who is trying to solve the case of the death of a woman who fell off the El Capitan while also dealing with his personal struggles.

Aside from Kyle, several other characters are important to the story of the mysterious death of the woman named Lucy Cook. One of them is Naya Vasquez (Lilly Santiago), the rookie ranger who helps Kyle solve the murder case. She recently shifted to the wilderness from LA with her son, Gael. In the later episodes of Untamed, it is revealed that moving to Yosemite for Naya was not just a career choice but also an escape from her tumultuous life in the bustling city.

It was revealed that Naya was being abused and threatened by Gael’s father, who was a cop in LAPD just like her, but was detained due to some illegal activities, and he was forcing her to back his story. Not just LA, Michael even dared to follow Naya to Yosemite and threaten her, but here Naya had people looking out for her, which resulted in Michael’s arrest, after he attacked Jill in Untamed.

More on this in our story.

What happened to Gael’s father in Untamed? Details explored

As mentioned, Naya had recently joined the National Park Service after moving from LA to Yosemite in Untamed. She was a single mother of a four-year-old named Gael. It was gradually revealed that Naya’s move to Yosemite had a terrifying reason behind it, which was domestic abuse.

Gael’s father, Michael, was a cop in the LAPD, and Naya, he, and Rowell worked together. Michael was later accused of stealing cash from a drug bust case that the three cops were involved in, resulting in his suspension. Rowell testified against Michael, without holding anything back, but Naya maintained silence in the case. This led to Michael harassing Naya and their son, insisting that she back up his story so that the case would be dismissed.

While she decided not to do that, she moved from LA to Yosemite. However, it still didn’t stop Michael as he followed her and came to the park to abuse his son and the mother of his son to testify for him. But this time, Naya had Kyle on her side as he made Naya stay in his cabin with Gael until Michael leaves. But the greedy and money-hungry man followed her to Kyle’s cabin, where he didn’t find Naya but tried to take Gael with him.

However, in episode 5 of Untamed, Kyle’s ex-wife, Jill, was babysitting Gael while Naya was on duty with Kyle to solve the drug ring operation and Lucy Cook’s murder, and stopped Michael from taking Gael. Michael made another big mistake as he tried to choke Jill while she fought back, only for Kyle and Naya to arrive at the scene. It didn’t take much time for Kyle to beat Michael to a pulp for attacking Jill.

At the end, Michael was finally arrested by the NPS in the same episode of Untamed, which would mean that he might have to spend some time in jail now.
