Apple TV+’s Lars Kepler series Joona Linna expands cast with Poorna Jagannathan, Gary Carr

Apple TV’s upcoming series, Joona Linna, is boosting its star power as two more acclaimed actors join the outstanding cast of the series. As reported by Variety, Gary Carr and Poorna Jagannathan are said to be joining the TV adaptation of Lars Kepler’s book series.

The series will have 10 episodes, with Liev Schreiber playing the role of Jonah Lynn, an ex-soldier who relocates to a small town for a peaceful life but gets embroiled in the fight against crime as his family becomes the target of a serial killer.

The series is adapted from Lars Kepler’s book series, which began publishing in 2009. Husband and wife Alexander and Alexandra Coelho Ahndoril use the one name Lars Kepler to publish their work, as they both wrote the series together.

Joona Linna: Poorna Jagannathan and Gary Carr are the newest additions to the Apple TV series

As mentioned, Poorna Jagannathan and Gary Carr will be joining the new Apple TV series, where Jagannathan is set to play an FBI agent named Quinn, who came from D.C. and has to take help from Schreiber’s Jonah to learn about the small community and solve the case, while also dealing with personal issues. Carr will appear as a forensic investigator named Nathan who, while being devoted to Schreiber’s Jonah, has feelings for his adopted daughter, Saga, an FBI agent.

Other than Carr, Jagannathan, and Schreiber, Joona Linna also stars Bill Camp, Zazie Beetz, Stephen Graham, Chrissy Metz, and Rory Culkin.

As per Variety, the logline of Joona Linna reads as:

"The series tells the story of Jonah Lynn (Liev Schreiber), an ex-soldier turned homicide detective who, tired of working the tough streets of Philadelphia, moves to a small town in Western Pennsylvania for a quiet life."

It continues:

"But, as the town and his family come under attack from the diabolically cunning serial killer Jurek Walter (Stephen Graham), Jonah must protect all that he holds dear. When the desperate search for Jurek’s last missing victim forces Jonah to send his adopted daughter FBI agent Saga Bauer (Zazie Beetz) up against Jurek, how far will Jonah go?"

It was also reported that production on the series will begin this summer in Pittsburgh, with Tim Van Patten set to direct the first two episodes of Joona Linna. The series is adapted by showrunners John Hlavin and Rowan Joffe for the screen, who will also serve as producers of the show, along with Schreiber, Tim Van Patten, and the Ahndoril couple, among others.
