The Taylor Sheridan drama Landman recently returned on Paramount+ with its second season and has left the internet buzzing. Following the announcements regarding creator Sheridan's future at the Paramount+ network, fans have been anxious about the show's future.

The latest season premiered with its first episode on November 16 and picks up shortly after the events of the first season, with Demi Moore's Cami Miller taking over Monty's empire after his death. Billy Bob Thornton's Tommy and Cami will be working closely to make sure that the aftermath is peaceful; however, peace might not just be in the cards for Tommy at home.

Nevertheless, the second season is picking up in a similar explosive manner to the first, leading to questions about the show's future in the wake of Sheridan's exit. In a recent conversation with The Hollywood Reporter, Landman actor Billy Bob Thornton answered these questions regarding the show's future.

Landman Season 1 was an unprecedented success for the Taylor Sheridan universe, mostly owing to the unexpected behind-the-scenes of the business. This success, it appears, has led to a gratifying experience for the cast of the show. In a recent conversation with The Hollywood Reporter, Thornton expressed the gratitude and surprise behind the show's success:

"what a pleasant surprise it was for us to see what a huge hit this thing became. Because we thought it would be successful — all of Taylor’s shows are. We didn’t know it was going to be this [successful]. We’re pretty humbled by it."

He also went on to express that this success had made them confident in their storytelling and its capability to expand into a universe. Thornton explained that he had signed on and agreed to be a part of Landman as long as the viewers wanted to see more and the story had space to grow without repeating old patterns.

"Well, yes, absolutely. As long as I’m able, I want to do it. Or, until the story runs out."

Along with Thornton, Landman's Sam Elliot also echoed co-creator Christian Wallace's sentiments, explaining that there was a lot of potential in the story and a lot of surfaces and character arcs that the show had barely scratched as of now:

"Yeah, I think for sure the potential is there. Whether everybody agrees to come back to the table; Billy’s set for four years. My deal was for two. So we’ll see. Like him, I’m all in on this at the moment. I keep using the same four letters all the time when talking about Taylor Sheridan — it’s a gift every time to be able to do his material and work in these worlds he sets up, and particularly when it’s somebody like Billy and the rest of this cast."

Elliott has even expressed that the plans for Landman Season 3 are so definitive that a film schedule has been created. Production for Landman Season 3 is projected to begin in April or May if things go well.
