Very Young Frankenstein: FX greenlights pilot with Zach Galifianakis, Kumail Nanjiani and more- here's everything to know

FX's upcoming series, Very Young Frankenstein, has some exciting new updates. According to Deadline, FX has announced the cast and approved the pilot episode for Very Young Frankenstein. The pilot will be directed by Taika Waititi (Jojo Rabbit, Night Raiders, What Do We Do in the Shadows). Meanwhile, it will be written by Stefani Robinson, who will also serve as a showrunner and executive producer. The executive producers also include Mel Brooks, Taika Waititi, Garett Basch, and Kevin Salter.

Previously, Deadline reported that the series will be based on Mel Brooks' 1974 horror comedy film Young Frankenstein, starring Teri Garr and Gene Wilder. This Oscar-nominated film was a parody and satire of the classic horror movies from the Frankenstein franchise.

The upcoming FX series will feature Zach Galifianakis, Kumail Nanjiani, and Nikki Crawford, to name a few. Not much is known about the plot or details of the characters. The series also does not have a release date yet. Further announcements depend on the pilot's reception. According to Deadline, Very Young Frankenstein has assembled a group of actors for the upcoming series. The list currently includes Kumail Nanjiani, Zach Galifianakis, Cary Elwes, Nikki Crawford, Dolly Wells, and Spencer House. Here's a little about each of them.

Kumail Nanjiani needs no introduction; he's an actor, writer, comedian, and podcaster. You might know him from his roles as Simon in Life as We Know It or as Stu in Stuber. Besides that, some of his notable projects include Only Murders in the Building, Welcome to Chippendales, Death to 2020, and Silicon Valley, among others.

Zach Galifianakis is an Emmy-winning actor best known for his role as Alan in The Hangover trilogy. Some of his notable works include Birdman, Due Date, The Lego Batman Movie, Tooned Out, and Only Murders in the Building.

Cary Elwes was among the first to be announced for the Very Young Frankenstein. This 62-year-old actor has appeared in over 140 projects, according to IMDb. His credits include Dead Man's Wife, Knuckles, Sweetwater, Blackberry, Saw, The Princess Bride, Robin Hood: Men in Tights, Kiss the Girls, and more. Besides Very Young Frankenstein, some of his upcoming projects are The Panic, The American Spring, M.I.A., and Why Not Choose Love: A Mary Pickford Manifesto.

Nikki Crawford is a Tony award-winning actress best known for her roles in Tracker, Elsbeth, Cruel Intentions, Criminal Minds, and Crown Lake, among others.

Dolly Wells is a powerhouse of talent. You may know Dolly Wells for her roles as Joy in And Just Like That or as Janice from Inside Man. Some of her other works include Hacks, Babygirl, Doll & Em, and Pride and Prejudice and Zombies.

Spencer House is a popular actor best known for his roles in Tell Me Lies, A House of Dynamite, Dr. Death, and Space Force.

If the pilot episode is approved, Very Young Frankenstein will be available for streaming on Hulu.
