Originally announced back in 2022, Paul Bettany's Vision Quest is now closer than ever. Although an official release date has not been announced yet, the show will be released sometime in the latter half of 2026. Now, with filming complete, Paul Bettany opened up about how the show would vary in theme from WandaVision.

The storyline of Vision Quest will take off immediately after the events of WandaVision, where White Vision becomes the resurrected synthezoid who ends up on a path of self-discovery.

Although Bettany could not reveal much about the show's narrative, he did confirm that the core theme of the show would vary greatly from that of WandaVision.

Paul Bettany reveals that Vision Quest will delve deeper into the theme of intergenerational trauma

During the Elizabeth Olsen and Paul Bettany panel at the recent LA Comic Con, Bettany was asked about the storyline of Vision Quest and how it would differ from that of WandaVision, given that the events of the show would begin immediately after those of WandaVision.

Bettany reassured fans that he has seen a significant portion of the show, and it looks quite promising so far, stating:

"I can't say too much about it, and we've already shot it, so I've already explored it, but I saw a lot of it just yesterday, and it's fantastic. I'm really excited for you all to see it."

Speaking about the difference in theme from WandaVision, Bettany says:

"It is about lots of things, and it's super exciting, but in the same way that WandaVision was about grief, it's sort of about intergenerational trauma. It's about fathers and sons and denial of pain and denial of your own truth and coming to terms with who and what you are and what you could be."

From Paul Bettany's comment, it can be assumed that the twins introduced in WandaVision, Billy and Tommy, will play a significant role in the show, since the show will allegedly explore the theme of intergenerational trauma and the relationship shared between fathers and sons. Moreover, it will also see James Spader reprise his role as the villainous robot Ultron for the first time after his appearance in Avengers: Age of Ultron.

Scheduled for a release in late 2026, fans can expect to get more and more information about the show in the upcoming months before its release. Once released, Vision Quest will be available to stream on Disney+.
