Netflix's medical K-drama Hospital Playlist (2020) gained much love and appreciation from the fans and even came back with Season 2 in 2021.
The friendships and heartwarming moments woven together in the story resonated with the audience and even paved the way for its spin-off series, Resident Playbook.
The spin-off series followed four new characters, starting their medical residency in Jongno Yulje Hospital's OB-GYN department.
While the old charm of the original squad was missed dearly, the new group eventually grew on the audience and created its place in everyone's heart.
Another reason fans could not stop watching the spin-off series is that it was filled with cameos from the original show's characters, who reprised their characters again.
Here are all the Hospital Playlist's characters cameos in Resident Playbook.
Exploring all Hospital Playlist main leads' cameos in Resident Playbook
While fans still want Hospital Playlist to return with a third season, its spin-off series was filled with heartwarming cameos from our favorite squad.
The first one to appear in a cameo scene was Kim Jun-wan (Jung Kyung-ho). He appears in Resident Playbook Episode 4 to offer medical advice to his friend Seo Jung-min. Jun-wan was just the same as the parent series, with his razor-sharp tongue and sassy attitude towards the residents. Oh Yi-young was at the receiving end of his fiery questions this time.
The most heartwarming cameo was by Ahn Jeong-won (Yoo Yeon-seok), who appears in two short scenes. One time, when the OB-GYN department is on their first team dinner, Yi-young (in her drunken state) doesn't notice that her team is gone. She hilariously sits at Jeong-won's table and eats his dried pollack.
Secondly, he also appears when a patient dies, leaving her young daughter alone. This was a subtle callback to Jeong-won's Daddy Long Legs programme for underprivileged children or children without guardians.
The ik-song couple, Lee Ik-jun (Cho Jung-seok) and Chae Song-hwa (Jeon Mi-do) also appeared together in a cameo in Resident Playbook. Still hilariously funny and careless, Ik-jun was there for an emergency when he accidentally glued both his hands with superglue.
After Jung-min calls for Song-hwa, she is shocked to see Ik-jun's hands tied together, and we finally get a glimpse of the most adorable couple from Hospital Playlist.
Speaking about adorable couples, how can we forget Chu Min-ha (Ahn Eun-jin) and Yang Seok-hyeong (Kim Dae-myung)? The adorable couple also had a surprise cameo in the Resident Playbook finale.
While Seok-hyeong was as shy and awkward but lovable as ever, Min-ha was appointed as the new OB-GYN professor at Jongno Yulje Hospital. She also revealed that the couple has recently gotten married.
Exploring other minor cameos in Resident Playbook
While all five main leads of Hospital Playlist had a befitting cameo in Resident Playbook, there were also some other minor characters from the parent series.
Another lovable couple, Heo Seo-bin (Ha Yoon-kyoung) and Yong Seok-min (Moon Tae-yoo) also appeared in a heartwarming cameo in the hospital's elevator.
Another surprising cameo was by Yulje's first-year resident Jang Hong-do (Bae Hyeon-song), who surprisingly chose CS. It was wholesome to see him mature into a confident doctor and even quizzing Um Jae-il like Jun-wan did to him in the aprent series.
Long-time military friends Lee Ik-sun (Kwak Sun-young) and Ahn Chi-young (Kim Joon-han) also appeared in Resident Playbook together. The cameo also confirmed that Ik-sun and Jun-wan are still together and engaged.
Jeong-won's girlfriend Jang Gyeol-ul (Jang Gyeo-ul) also appeared for a short cameo. Still in her trademark Hospital Playlist denim shirt, it was revealed that Jae-il had a crush on her.
Lastly, a fan-favorite character, Do Jae-hak (Jung Moon-sung), also returned for a short cameo when Yi-Young and Ku Do-won are looking for a new house. Jae-hak tries to sell them their place, but Yi-young dismisses him as a potential scammer. Classic Jae-hak!
