While the cast of How I Met Your Mother included names like Josh Radnor, Neil Patrick Harris, Jason Segel, Cobie Smulders, Alyson Hannigan, and Cristin Milioti, there is one cameo that is often overlooked. Jon Bernthal appeared in How I Met Your Mother, Season 1, Episode 2.

The actor now has a busy lineup of projects, including work with Marvel. However, during his cameo, he was not a widely recognized face, so his appearance often goes unnoticed.

Jon Bernthal had a cameo in How I Met Your Mother

Jon Bernthal appeared in the second episode of How I Met Your Mother, titled "Pink Giraffe." He plays the role of Carlos, who is Beth Riesgraf’s character's coworker. In this episode, Ted is shown trying to bring Robin to one of his house parties, and when she cannot make it, he keeps arranging them until she comes.

Bernthal’s character had little to do in the episode. Later, he was seen making out with Beth Riesgraf’s character, which caught Barney’s attention. Barney had previously seduced her and was avoiding her, but seeing her with another man somehow made him jealous.

While many are unaware of Bernthal’s appearance in the hit sitcom, he also appeared in shows like Without A Trace and Boston Legal. It took a few more years for the actor to establish himself in the industry. His breakthrough role came with The Walking Dead, where he played the character of Shane.

The character of Carlos didn't give Bernthal much chance to showcase his acting skills, but after projects like The Punisher and We Own This City, the cameo becomes significant because it demonstrates his progress. Bernthal's other works include films such as Snitch (2013), Fury (2014), Sicario (2015), The Accountant (2016), Baby Driver (2017), Wind River (2017), Widows (2018), Ford v Ferrari (2019), , The Wolf of Wall Street (2013) among others.

The actor also appeared in Daredevil: Born Again, where he reprised his role as Frank Castle/The Punisher. He won a Primetime Emmy Award for his recurring guest role as Michael Berzatto in The Bear.
