After years, CBS' military procedural NCIS finally aired an episode centred around Agent Timothy McGee (Sean Murray). Season 23 Episode 6 titled 'Page-Turner' saw a harrowing case where a Naval Captain named Seth was found murdered in a dumpster. While the team raced to uncover the conspiracy behind his death, McGee struggled with negative reviews about his new books in the Deep Six series.Seasoned NCIS fans know that McGee is also a published author under a pseudonym, who is most famous for his Deep Six novels. After McGee is abducted by an elderly woman, who demands that the agent find her missing son, he uses his fictional characters' voices (inside his head) to get out of this predicament. In a recent interview with TV Insider, Sean Murray discussed his experience shooting for Page-Turner and exploring McGee's Deep Six novels:''Yeah, it was a lot of fun. We got this script, “Page-Turner,” and I was so excited about the script from right there...He’s had his writing alias, Thom E. Gemcity, puts out his Deep Six novels...''More on this in our story.*Disclaimer: This article contains spoilers for NCIS Season 23 Episode 6 'Page-Turner'. While NCIS took its sweet time, the latest episode in Season 23, titled Page-Turner, finally delved deeper into McGee's Deep Six novels, which he publishes under the pen name of Thom E. Gemcity. In addition to a harrowing murder investigation with a tragic conspiracy and a dive into McGee's novels, Page-Turner also featured the NCIS cast members pulling double duty, playing both their regular roles and their fictional counterparts. The episode revealed how McGee uses his colleagues as inspiration for his characters, with a slight variation. Inside the agent's fictional pages, Knight becomes Knightshade, Torres becomes Soares, Jimmy Palmer becomes Pimmy Jalmer, Kasie becomes KC-3000 and McGee himself adopts the alternate persona of McGregor. In his interview with TV Insider, Murray breaks down NCIS Season 23 Episode 6 Page-Turner and the cast's alter-ego characters:''He [McGee] likes to base his book characters around a little bit of the people...It was so much fun. I mean, Wilmer as Rick Soares, the sensitive type, it is just great. Katrina doing her badass superhero, Gary as the sort of somewhat Ducky-like professor. It was so much fun. It’s funny''Talking about his own alter-ego character on-screen, Murray added:''I think McGee’s always trying to grow, and I think McGregor is a version of him that’s a little more proactive about what’s going on and stuff. And I think that’s something that McGee has always wanted, kind of pushed for and always been after...I don’t know if he’ll quite ever be the cool McGregor guy, but hey, we can all wish.''McGee's Deep Six characters helped him solve the case in NCIS Episode Page-Turner View this post on Instagram Instagram PostWhile the alter-ego fictional characters added a fun layer in the episode, they also helped McGee crack the case while he was in captivity. Thanks to 'McGregor's' creative thinking, McGee realized how the naval captain's murder case is connected to his abduction. Thanks to a well-timed hard drive, McGee learned that the elderly woman's Pilot son died in a test covered up by Seth's killer. After he worked out the details of the case, Seth's killer was put behind bars and the agent helped provide some closure to the elderly woman (about her Pilot son's death).NCIS Season 23 Episode 6 proved that the show can pull off an entertaining and funny episode with a harrowing case. While the investigation was tense, the side plot with McGee's Deep Six novels and the alternate characters kept things light and balanced.Murray also expressed his gratitude to NCIS for still keeping things entertaining and challenging for McGee. He said:''McGee is always questioning himself. He’s never quite comfortable with things. He’s always worrying he’s not doing enough or doing the right thing...this is the most fun I’ve had on an episode in quite a while..''McGee fans were certainly delighted after last night's episode, which finally gave us a peek inside Thom E. Gemcity's Deep Six novels and his interesting characters. You can stream NCIS Season 23 Episode Page-Turner on Paramount+.For the latest scoops on your favorite TV shows and movies, follow SoapCentral.
