“We’re really hoping”: Adults creators open up about the possibility of Season 2

FX’s Adults has resonated with audiences with its humorous story of five friends navigating adult life while living together in the same apartment. From existential crises to career challenges, the friends overcome their problems with each other’s support.

The eight-episode comedy series premiered on FX on Hulu on May 28, 2025, and received rave reviews from both critics and audiences. This positive reception has sparked curiosity among fans regarding a potential Adults Season 2.

Series creators Ben Kronengold and Rebecca Shaw have now opened up about the possibility of continuing the show. In an interview with Collider, the duo revealed they are eager to create a Season 2 of the sitcom, as there are still many stories yet to be told. Shaw said:

“We’re really hoping there will be [Season 2]. We have so many more stories to tell with these characters. We have fallen madly in love with them and want to see what they look like in relationships and out of, and at work, and navigating new friendships, and friendships falling apart.”

Adults creators talk about a potential Season 2

Ben Kronengold and Rebecca Shaw discussed what the story of Adults Season 2 might look like. Shaw hinted that Issa and Paul Baker’s relationship could take center stage in the potential second season:

“Issa and Paul Baker’s relationship is one that we’ve sort of taken for granted over the course of the first few episodes. I think there’s a lot more to mine there and things that we’re so excited for our audiences to see.”

The duo also opened up about why they feel the show has become a success, revealing that its relatability is what made the story special:

“So much of your 20s is going out into the world and taking a big, wild, confident swing and then retreating to your comfort zone and your comfort people and being like, ‘I think I just did something really, really wrong,’ and having the intimacy to be like, ‘I’m trying to have all the right thoughts and to be the right kind of person, but I’m really afraid I’m f***ing it up,’ and your best friend saying, ‘Me f***ing too.’”

Adults narrates the journey of Samir, Billie, Issa, and Anton, who share Samir’s house during his parents' extended trip. Over time, Issa’s boyfriend, Paul Baker, joins their household. As a group, they navigate the ups and downs of their twenties.

The show features Malik Elassal as Samir, Amita Rao as Issa, Lucy Freyer as Billie, Owen Thiele as Anton, and Jack Innanen as Paul Baker. Guest appearances by Charlie Cox, D'Arcy Carden, Will Ropp, John Reynolds, and Julia Fox have also made the series special. Currently, FX has not renewed the show for a second season, but this could change in the future due to the positive reception and the creators’ desire to continue the story.
