Wednesday Season 2 has brought many surprises our way till now. But one of the most unexpected is how much focus Pugsley Addams gets this time. He was seen as the younger brother who stayed in the background, and it was Wednesday who always stole the spotlight. But that changes in the new season. And it is not just because he goes to Nevermore. It is also due to his strange connection to a new character, Slurp.
Slurp is a reanimated figure with a story that is both sad and scary. Pugsley is tied to him in a way that shows us new sides of his personality. The way he interacts with Slurp makes us think of Pugsley as more than a side character. He is curious and reckless but also protective.
Watching Pugsley grow through his bond with Slurp is one of the most fun and creepy parts of this season of Wednesday. The humor, the horror, and the sibling vibes leave us wondering where it could go next.
Wednesday shows Pugsley in a new light with Slurp

Wednesday Season 2 uses Slurp in a way that makes us feel like he is more than simply a monster for scares in the story. Slurp shows us how much Pugsley wants to belong. The way he treats Slurp shows us his loyal and kind side. Even though it is weird, it feels very real. You can see him trying to balance caring for Slurp with the fear of what Slurp might become.
Pugsley’s wildest "mistake" in Season 2 starts at the Skull Tree. The legend of a buried student with a clockwork heart interests him so much that he goes to the forest and ends up accidentally reanimating the long-dead student, whom he later calls Slurp, with his powers. The zombie then rises from the earth as a broken and half-rotted body with that mechanical heart still ticking.
Slurp is then hidden in a shed by him and his roommate. However, his hunger is constant, and the food he craves is brains. The more he eats, the more human he becomes. Pugsley tries to care for him, even sneaking him meals like the "mystery meat", but the hunger can’t be controlled. Slurp kills and rampages when he breaks free. Soon, Pugsley's curiosity turns into danger for everyone at Nevermore.
The first half of Season 2 ends with Slurp locked away in Willow Hill Psychiatric Hospital. However, Slurp breaks loose. He kills Dr. Fairburn and Augustus Stonehurst. And then he does something no one saw coming. He speaks. With his brain slowly knitting back together from every feeding, Slurp looks up and says:
“Hello, old friend.”
It is a cliffhanger that leaves Pugsley and us, facing the question of whether Slurp is becoming more monster or more man. So, Slurp is not harmless, and every step with him puts Pugsley deeper into trouble. He is someone who takes risks and sometimes forgets how dangerous they are.
Slurp is a mirror showing us Pugsley’s biggest strengths and flaws. Wednesday may be about her world and her challenges. But through Slurp, we finally see Pugsley step forward.
