It's back to Nevermore in Wednesday Season 2, Netflix's supernatural mystery comedy series based on cartoonist Charles Addams' characters from 'The Addams Family'.
Starring Jenna Ortega in her breakthrough titular role, the show premiered in November 2022 and quickly topped the streamer's Top 10 charts, earning Ortega a Golden Globe nomination for Best Actress. The show was naturally renewed for Season 2, which premiered on Netflix on August 6, 2025.
Wednesday Season 2 premiered with a low episode count of only 4 episodes. While Season 1 dropped eight episodes simultaneously, the sophomore season has significantly decreased the number of episodes. The simple reason behind this mystery is that Season 2 will be released in two parts.
For fans who have already binge-watched the first four episodes of Wednesday Season 2, Part 2 (with the remaining four episodes) will premiere on September 3, 2025.
More on this in our story.
Why are there only four episodes in Wednesday Season 2?
While fans were delighted with the release of Season 2, the decreased episode count was surely a bummer. However, the titular character's adventures in the sophomore season will continue with Part 2, which will be released on Netflix on September 3, 2025.
Part 2 will feature another set of four episodes, making the total count for Wednesday Season 2 episodes eight, similar to the debut season.
This strategy of releasing a season in two parts has been widely popular on the streaming giant in the last year. The majority of its popular shows, namely Cobra Kai and Emily in Paris, have followed a similar release pattern with their respective recent seasons. Bridgerton Season 3, one of the most popular period romance series on Netflix, was also released in two parts.
In addition, the much-awaited final season of Stranger Things will be released in three parts in late 2025. Given the buzz this release strategy generates mid-season, the platform seems likely to stick with it for future titles, including the newly released Wednesday Season 2.
What can you expect from Wednesday Season 2 Part 2?
The recently released first four episodes of Wednesday Season 2 introduced the central mystery for Wednesday at Nevermore. The mysterious Outcast killings at Willow Hill and the secretive identity of the Avian ruled the majority of the first half of the sophomore season and will continue to haunt the halls of Nevermore in Part 2.
While Episode 4 finally revealed the identity of the mastermind behind the twisted Willow Hill experiments, chaos erupted in the psychiatric ward when Uncle Fester accidentally released all the patients from their cells. The patients basked in their newfound freedom and killed the Avian, following which Tyler was also released by his creator, Marilyn Thornhill.
The final moments of Part 1 saw Tyler transforming into his Hyde form and throwing Wednesday off the three-story window of Willow Hill. As her bloody and lifeless body is shown lying on the ground, she leaves the viewers with these parting words:
"I’ve always dreamed of looking death in the face. But in my final moments, all I can hear is my mother's words ringing in my ears. Maybe I have made everything worse. Much worse."
The mid-season cliffhanger is surely one of the most anticipated points for Season 2 Part 2. With Wednesday's fate still unknown, a recently transformed Tyler is unleashed on Nevermore. The final moments saw Hyde running into the darkness, suggesting a grave future.
With Wednesday unconscious and his creator dead, it would be interesting to see how the beast will explore his newfound freedom.
Catch Wednesday Season 2 Part 2 on Netflix on September 3, 2025.
