Wednesday doesn’t try to be liked and yet, we love her. With her deadly stare and her unapologetically honest one liners, Wednesday Addams walks through Nevermore Academy like the world owes her nothing. And she’s fine with that. But underneath her pitch black attire and “touch me not” kind of energy, there’s a world of complexity that makes her way more relatable than we’d like to admit.
It's obvious that she does not fall under the typical teen protagonist category. Others want to fit in, but Wednesday would rather be alone with her cello and murder mystery board. In the beginning of Wednesday Season 2, she's gained an almost celebrity like status and we see people asking for her autograph at Nevermore Academy. But she simply hates it. She doesn't like attention or fame.
And yet, in her own way, she craves connection. But, of course, on her terms. That’s what makes her personality so interesting. She is not eccentric or dark for the sake of it. There’s thought behind it. There are layers that make her who she is. And if you’ve ever felt like an outsider or like you see the world a little differently, chances are you’ve already connected with her on a deeper level.
So what exactly is Wednesday’s personality type? How does someone so cold on the outside have such a rich and fiery mind underneath? Let’s break it down in the most un-boring way possible.
Wednesday in a nutshell
Wednesday is INTJ. That’s the "Architect" personality type in the Myers-Briggs world. And that would be someone who’s independent, strategic, logical, and kind of allergic to small talks. This fits her like a black lace glove. She doesn’t just wander through life. She analyzes and plans her way through it. She always seems three steps ahead of everyone else, and usually, she is.
One big clue that she fits the INTJ category is how she handles emotions. Or rather, how she doesn’t handle them in a usual way. She’s not cold hearted even though she seems like it. She just processes things internally. When she cares, it’s deep and intense, but she won’t go around hugging people or writing long emotional texts. She shows up for people through action, not words. That’s INTJ (Introverted, Intuitive, Thinking, Judging).
Another thing is that she hates anything that feels fake or shallow. She hates and does not participate in any sort of drama or gossip. She values truth, even if it’s uncomfortable. That makes her pretty intimidating in social settings, but also incredibly refreshing. INTJs often get misunderstood for being rude, but really, they just don’t see the point of sugarcoating things. And Wednesday is a perfect example of that.
And maybe the coolest part about her personality is how she challenges the idea of what strength looks like. She hates being loud. Being traditionally nice is not in her books. So, her strength actually comes from within her. It is controlled and focused. And that's unusual, and clearly, not performative at all. It shows genuinity and also teaches us that being different doesn't mean we need to change. It is, in fact, something to own.
And if you're someone who often feels "too much” for the world or “not enough” for the crowd, Wednesday gets you. INTJs like her tend to live in their heads a lot, constantly questioning things, dreaming up strange ideas, or imagining futures that feel far from reach. But that deep and overthinking brain is actually a gift.
