Officer Aaron Thorson's journey so far in The Rookie: From scandal to redemption

Aaron Thorsen was never a typical recruit. His arrival at the LAPD carried a backstory that most rookies could only imagine. He came from a privileged background and was the son of rapper Lincoln Thorson and a celebrity, Yvonne Thorson.

What made Aaron leave his comfort zone and join the forces? A murder accusation, a disturbing media trial, and the constant guilt were eating him alive, and that is when he decided to join the forces. He was accused of murdering his best friend, Patrick Hayes, while studying abroad in Paris. The trial was a media circus, though acquitted, the stain on his reputation never faded.

In the later episodes, it was revealed that Rowan Clausen killed Patrick Hayes because Patrick found out that Clausen was smuggling drugs. Clausen also killed producer Morris Mackey because he found out about Patrick's real killer and framed Aaron for the murders.

Joining the LAPD wasn't a career move. It was a way to rebuild a broken reputation. His arrival at Mid-Wilshire was met with skepticism. However, training under Nyla Harper and John Nolan wasn't easy. However, in the end, Aaron proved that he is determined and here to stay. By Season 5 Episode 2, he rose to the position of Officer II.

Aaron's path was never easy: His colleagues questioned his motives, and every mistake he made was magnified. He didn't just fight criminals; he fought shadows of his past. His narratives often showed his quiet strength. In tense situations, Aaron led with compassion. After being shot in Season 5 by serial killer, Luke Moran, he confronted his trauma openly, offering a rare view of how violence affects officers. It was a moment that made him more relatable than ever.

Apart from that, Aaron Thorsen's bond with Celina Juarez is quite memorable. The duo starts as Dungeons and Dragons game partners, and soon becomes close friends. However, during Nolan's wedding, when Aaron tries to kiss her, their bond is strained as Celina doesn't have any romantic feelings for him. However, they soon get back to being friends

Aaron Thorsen grew through his bonds with the team. Once an outsider, he built trust and became a loyal partner. But his loyalty also costs him; he was manipulated by his psychiatrist, Dr. Blair London. London faked her feelings for Thorsen and secretly provided information to Monica Stevens to ruin the LAPD's operations. Shaken and disgusted by London's manipulation, Thorsen requested a transfer.

Why did Officer Aaron Thorsen leave The Rookie?

In The Rookie Season 7, the writers decided to write off his character to make space for new arcs. In the end, Officer Aaron Thorsen was transferred to the North Hollywood Division. Since the makers did not kill his character, the viewers can expect his return in the series.
