Prime Video’s Fallout Season 1 was released in 2024 and quickly became one of the superhit shows on the streaming platform.
Based on the video game franchise, the post-apocalyptic series narrates the story of Lucy, played by Ella Purnell, who begins a quest across the wasteland in search of her father, who was abducted.
Along her journey, she meets several people, who become a part of her quest in one way or the other. One of those recurring characters is Thaddeus, played by Johnny Pemberton. From being a bully to Maximus, to unknowingly saving his life, to getting injected with a mysterious serum, Thaddeus went through several interesting turns in Fallout Season 1, making him one of the complex but intriguing characters of the series.
More on this in our story.
Fallout Season 1: Who is Thaddeus? Character explored
Thaddeus is first introduced as a squire in Brotherhood of Steel in the premiere episode of Fallout Season 1. He is introduced as one of the negative characters due to his bullying of another Brotherhood squire, Maximus (Aaron Moten).
He is seen beating and harassing Maximus in any way possible. However, things take a surprising turn when Maximus begins pretending to be Knight Titus, after the real one's death.
In Episode 3, he is sent as a squire to Knight Titus, who is actually Maximus. While initially Maximus is apprehensive toward him, later on, after noticing Thaddeus’s attempt to impress Maximus by introducing him to Titus, Maximus tries to exact his revenge on him.
However, after fighting with a gulper together and finding Wilzig’s head, Maximus begins to warm up to his bully. This leads him to later reveal his true identity to Thaddeus in Episode 5 of Fallout Season 1. The revelation does not go well as Maximus had hoped, as Thaddeus later tells him how the Brotherhood will punish him for his lie, and tries to remove the fusion core from his armor.
This scuffle leaves Maximus trapped in his armor, as Thaddeus successfully removes the core, but also leaves Thaddeus with a crushed foot..
Fallout Season 1: Is Thaddeus able to cure his foot? Details explored

While Maximus gets saved by Lucy at the end of Episode 5 of Fallout Season 1, Thaddeus also receives unusual help. While trying to contact the Brotherhood to inform them and return to the base, Lucy and Maximus look for him to get Wilzig’s head back, which he takes with him after removing the fusion core. Thaddeus also receives help from a surprising place.
In Episode 7of Fallout Season 1, Thaddeus meets the Snake Oil salesman, a mercantile denizen, played by Jon Daly. He injects Thaddeus with a serum that he tells him would regenerate his foot, and he might not need to be worried about radiation in the wasteland anymore.
This is proven when, just as Thaddeus is injected with the serum, his foot begins to recover. Further, as he reaches the KPSS radio station to inform the Brotherhood about everything that happened, he is confronted by Lucy and Maximus. While clashing with the duo, he accidentally steps on a trap that was made by DJ Carl, which leaves him with an arrow through his neck.
Surprisingly, this doesn’t affect Thaddeus as he is still able to talk and does not die as he removes the arrow, and the skin regrows, leaving the viewers speculating if he has become a Ghoul or a mutant.
More about Thaddeus’s condition will be revealed in Fallout Season 2, which is confirmed to premiere on December 17, 2025.
