I'm Glad My Mom Died is based on the heartbreaking yet hilarious recounting of McCurdy's codependent relationship with her mother, highlighting her struggles as a former child actor living with a mother who was extremely involved in her personality as the mother of a "starlet." In the Apple TV+ series, Aniston will take on the role of McCurdy's overbearing mother.

Although Jennette McCurdy is now an acclaimed writer and filmmaker, she rose to fame during her childhood as she played the role of Sam Puckett in the popular Nickelodeon show, iCarly. The show eventually became so popular that McCurdy reprised her role as Sam in the show's spinoff series called Sam & Cat before she finally left Nickelodeon.

However, one of the main pressures she faced as a child actor was unfortunately from her mother, as she detailed in her memoir. The actress revealed how she shared a very codependent relationship with her mother, who was completely absorbed in her role as the mother of a child star. Although the story has been narrated in a hilarious manner, the crux of the plot is quite heartbreaking, and highlights a less spoken about struggle that star kids often face.

The show I'm Glad My Mom Died will be written, executive-produced, and showrun by Jennette McCurdy and Ari Katcher. Jennifer Aniston will also be executive producing the show via Echo Films. The show will also see Sharon Horgan, Stacy Greenberg, and many other prominent names on the list of executive producers.

Aniston's role in the 10-episode series will add to her existing relationship with Apple TV+, as she is already starring in another show on the streaming platform—The Morning Show, which is set to launch its fourth season in September this year.

No release date has been announced so far for the much-awaited memoir-turned-series.
