The Terminal List: Dark Wolf features a surprise cameo in the closing minutes of the finale. The cameo features Hank “Dash” Dashnaw, a former member of the Delta Force. He meets Taylor Kitsch's Ben Edwards to offer the latter a chance to join the CIA's Ground Branch, the position he held in the flagship series, The Terminal List.
While a second season of The Terminal List: Dark Wolf hasn't been greenlit, actor Taylor Kitsch expressed hope for returning as Edwards for a hypothetical season 2 of the prequel series in a recent Collider interview. After teasing that Hank's appearance sets up where Ben Edwards is in the original series, he said:
"We did have a Ground Branch guy on, and he's going to be heavy with me if I'm lucky to do Season 2, because obviously I'm in Ground Branch at the end. Where it picks up is fucking insane, which is cool, and way darker, psychologically, for Ben."
When Kitsch was asked what fans could expect from the second season, the actor said:
"A lot of it's based on one of the SEAL’s true life when he was in the Ground Branch. He went dark for eight months by himself and uncovered a lot of crazy shit. You'll see the toll that it finally takes on Ben, and you'll finally see him fall."
The Terminal List: Dark Wolf's Hank “Dash” Dashnaw is an original character:
"The Wolf You Feed", The Terminal List: Dark Wolf finale ends with a setup. In the closing minutes of the Dark Wolf finale, original character Hank meets Ben Edwards to make Ben a tempting offer. It seems that Dashnaw is impressed with Ben for the way he handled CIA Iranian Operations Division spymaster Jed Haverford.
But one of the most exciting moments of this The Terminal List: Dark Wolf is when Dashnaw name drops an important character from the books.
The Prime Video series confirms the existence of Vic Rodriguez:
While casual fans might ot have given it a thought, book readers were excited as soon as Hank namedrops Vic Rodriguez. Vic is Lieutenant James Reece's CIA contact who informs him and Raife about a Russian mafia attack in Savage Son, the third novel. Reece also contacts Vic and expresses his desire to join the CIA, in Ben's footsteps.
Following his appearance in Savage Son, Vic Rodriguez has regularly appeared in other James Reece novels, like Red Sky Mourning and The Devil's Hand. Vic is a pivotal character in Reece's character arc in the novels written by Jack Carr.
It looks like by name-dropping him, Dark Wolf is using Vic the same way that it did with Raife Hastings, introducing a character earlier so that we have a frame of reference for them when they appear in the flagship series' next season.
"Before THE TERMINAL LIST, Navy SEAL Ben Edwards (Taylor Kitsch) finds himself entangled in the black operations side of the CIA. The deeper Ben goes into the ‘gray’, the harder it will become to not give himself over to his darker impulses. Every man has two wolves inside him – light and dark – fighting for control. Which wolf will Ben Edwards feed?"
The entirety of The Terminal List: Dark Wolf, consisting of seven episodes, is accessible via streaming on Prime Video. Catch it before The Terminal List Season 2 streams on the OTT platform.
