What happened to Rick in Girl Taken? Details explored 

Paramount+'s latest thriller, Girl Taken, follows a twisted abduction case that unravels into something sinister and dark. A weird obsession of an adult turns almost fatal for teen girls.

Girl Taken features twin sisters Abby and Lily and their single mother, Eve. Their life takes a sudden turn when Lily is abducted by her high school English teacher, Rick Hansen. Soon, we find out that Rick is a monster. He not only abducted the teen, but he also kept her chained in the basement, tortured/abused her, manipulated her, and even forced himself upon her. Lily even got pregnant with Rick's child, and when she gave birth, he lied to her that her child died.

For five long years, Lily was a victim of Rick's sick-minded obsession. Rick maintained a perfect persona outside his home to avoid suspicion. He manipulated his wife Zoe so much so that she even thought of ending her life. In the end, we also find out that it was Rick who had murdered Isobella.

However, when Lily finally managed to escape the forest cottage's basement, she told the authorities about Rick's doings. With a little help from Zoe, the judges finally found Rick guilty, and he was sentenced to life imprisonment. Zoe testified against Rick. However, fate wasn't on their side; Rick managed to escape while being transported to the prison from the courthouse. However, in the end, Abby stabbed Rick in his neck and killed him. Is Rick Hansen dead in Girl Taken?

When Rick escaped the courthouse, Lily, Abby, and Eve feared for their lives. They knew that since Rick was out of prison, he might cause harm to them. They were taken to a safehouse, and the detectives Tommy and Rachel stayed with them. Abby, who once developed a crush on Rick before Lily was abducted, was disgusted by his actions. She blamed herself for not understanding Lily. Thus, she took it upon herself to teach Rick a lesson.

In Episode 6 of Girl Taken, Abby sneaked out of the safehouse and went to Rick's forest cottage. She took out her knife and slowly walked across the room. It was tense and nerve-wracking. Rick found her and creepily uttered:

"That's my babydoll"

He walked towards her as Abby pulled out her knife to defend herself. Meanwhile, Lily alerted Tommy that Abby was missing. Back at the cottage, Abby threatens Rick and firmly asks him to stay away. However, during the scuffle, they tumbled down the stairs and fell into the dingy basement. Yes, the same basement where he kept Lily for five years.

Rick tried to manipulate her, but Abby fought back. He told her that if it were her instead of Lily, then things would have been perfect. This irked Abby all the more. When he pinned her down, Abby stabbed Rick's neck, and it was a fatal blow. Rick was dead in a few minutes.

Tommy and Lily ran inside the house. Lily reached first and saw Rick's body lying on the floor. Tommy testified and said that Abby killed Rick as an act of self-defence. In the end, Lily reunited with her daughter Alice.
